Each year, the SPFGA hosts a trophy measuring event and invites hunter and angler members to bring their harvests in to be measured and recorded. The largest submission in each category is recorded on our website Awards page.

Congratulations to each of our 2022 Wildlife Award winners! Congratulations as well to everyone who submitted their harvest to be measured, and to everyone who went out this year, whether or not they were successful in their harvest. Hunting and angling are cornerstones of our organizational mission, and key conservation activities we welcome the opportunity to support.
Our deep thanks go to Dean Bromberger for organizing and running the scoring for this competition, and to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this possible.
In the coming weeks, we will be announcing details of an entirely new Wildlife Awards event in late spring to celebrate our Wildlife Award winners!

Volunteers needed for our Mother's Day Event
|
We're planning a Mother's Day event on May 13 and are in search of volunteers to support it.
We are in need of assistance with preparing and serving brunch at the clubhouse, assistance with shooting events at the ranges, and someone with angling experience to assist at the fish pond.
As well, a naturalist who can take interested attendees on a walk on the hiking trails, showing them the various plants and animals they encounter would also be greatly appreciated.
If you're available and interested in volunteering to support this event, please contact us at info@spfga.ca.

These Did You Know? articles were suggested by members as a source of quick reminders, highlight specific rules & briefly explain their reasoning.
Did you know the break points in the Facility Rules range hours have specific reasoning, though they might seem arbitrary?
The shooting end times changing through the seasons were selected to maximize safe shooting throughout the year. Two of the break points coincide with the beginning and end of daylight savings time: the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in November. The other two were selected so that, for the most part, there are 30 minutes or so between the end time and sunset. We chose to do this with two steps. This does leave more than 30 minutes at the end of the day in early November and less than that around the time of the Winter Solstice, but it's an optimization as it also avoids a more complicated series of multiple break points.
Range hours may be found on the gate, the website and in Range of Thoughts (the newsletter).
