Welcome to Bullet Points, our news & events email!
Our hours
We've gotten a number of questions about our hours. Hopefully this will help clear things up.

The hours on our Google listing are our office hours: 9 am - 4 pm Monday to Friday.

The Ketchamoot Creek facility itself is open and accessible 24x7 year-round unless there is some reason we need to close it (which has happened waaaay too much this year).

The firearms range hours start at 9 am daily and the end time depends on the actual date. For more detail on our range hours, refer to the Facility Rules page on the website.
Still spots left in the Aug 20 Fundamentals of Handgun Marksmanship course!
Instructed by Edmonton-based firearms instructor David Schoenberg, this course will provide instruction on the fundamentals of safe use & handling of handguns and is intended for the firearms owner with limited handgun experience.

Still two spots left - sign up now!

Register for the August 30 course:

Please contact Mark Lowry, Handgun Director with questions: handgun@spfga.ca.
Black powder shoot cancelled
The September black powder shoot, planned for September 12 & 13, is cancelled.

Flooding conditions on the Black Powder Trail have continued to make the trail unsuitable for use, unfortunately.

Please contact Paul Christiansen, Black Powder Director with questions: blackpowder@spfga.ca.
More about guests
We continue to get questions about guests, so we thought it might be helpful to put the information out again.

We are currently at Phase 2 of our re-opening plan. This means that guests are welcome on all parts of the property...with the exception of the firearms ranges. At present, a non-shooting guest may accompany you to the range but may not shoot or handle firearms. As such, we are not making Supervised Range Guest Passes available during Phase 2.

But we want to be clear: please invite your guests to join you at your campsite for a hot dog, come and join you at the fish pond, or go for a walk or bike ride on our trails. Of course, physical distancing, hand sanitizing and all that, but guests are welcome.

When we make our transition to Phase 3 of the re-opening plan, we will review guests on the firearms ranges again and will announce updates here.
What's Your Thought?
What's Your Thought? is a regularly-running poll where you're able to share your thoughts with us.
This What's Your Thought? polls how you get your club information.

The SPFGA puts out information updates in a variety of formats - email, the club website (www.spfga.ca), and The Ketchamoot Discourse, our Facebook discussion group.

For email, we have three streams:
  • Bullet Points (this email) - semi-monthly club news & event information
  • Safe and Sound - facility safety & system messages
  • Range of Thoughts - quarterly club newsletter

If you had to choose just one, which format would you say is the your go-to for club information?
Which of the following is your main source of club information?
Email (Bullet Points, Safe and Sound, Range of Thoughts)
The Ketchamoot Discourse (Facebook group)
Club website
This Last Thought is the poll results from the June 20 edition of Bullet Points.
The Last Thought
In the June 20 edition, we polled your interest in your kids signing up for club email.

We received responses from 175 members, 44 (25.1%) indicating that they would not be interested in signing their kids up for email, 17 (9.7%) indicating that they would be interested. 65.1% (114) of respondents indicated that they do not have children on their membership.
These Did You Know? articles, suggested by you as a source of quick reminders, highlight specific rules & briefly explain their reasoning.

Did you know that you need to bring your own chair to the range?

While we are in Phase 2 of our re-opening plan, a number of COVID-19 strategies are being employed. Eliminating club-supplied chairs as a high-touch surface for transmission of infection is one of these strategies.

So, please bring your own chair to use. Also remember to bring disinfectant wipes to sanitize the bench surface, safety curtain crank handle, etc. when you arrive and prior to departing. Remember also to sanitize your hands regularly (you can bring your own or use the dispensers in the range sheds).

Discussion Group
Please come and join our Facebook discussion group, The Ketchamoot Discourse, a place where SPFGA members can talk with each other or the Board.

Head on over and take a look. See you there!
