Introducing: Bullet Points
Welcome to Bullet Points , our new weekly news & events email! The name was chosen from your submissions to the 'Help us with names' contest we held in December. It simultaneously brings to mind an itemized list, essentially what these weekly emails are, as well as giving a nod to hunting and sport shooting.
An update on cards
Membership and gate access cards are on their way out to you.

The office has printed and mailed cards for Youth, Regular and Regular with Range Privileges. We are currently working on cards for Family and Family with Range Privileges and should have them done and sent by the week of January 27.

New members will be receiving their membership cards and gate access cards; renewing members will be receiving membership cards. If you haven't received your cards by the second week of February, please call the office at 780-467-0085 to follow up.

We thank you for your patience as we've worked through these final phases of settling-in of the new website and member portal.
January General Meeting
Please join us at the Old Log Cabin (50 Spruce Avenue, Sherwood Park) at 7:30 pm on Thursday, January 30 for our January General Meeting. Richard Rothwell will be giving us the presentation Ice Fishing: How to get started . Following this, we will be reviewing the Draft Resolutions to be considered for debate at the AFGA AGM on February 20-22, 2020 .

The discussion of the draft resolutions is an interesting window into how the AFGA, our provincial body, develops, maintains and evolves it position statements. It's a little bit like how laws are crafted and an intriguing thing to see in action. We invite you come out and take part!

Poll: Which logo do you prefer?
One of the threads of feedback we received in the Member Engagement Survey last fall was that while members appreciate what the SPFGA stands for, you would like to bring things up to date as we move forward with future planning.

As we needed to create a resizable version of our logo for use online or in publications we asked Vance Yung , SPFGA member and graphic designer, to create three design options for you to consider. The first is a refresh of our traditional logo. The second two are modern, minimalist options. Please look and tell us which of the three you'd like for our new logo.

CCFR Introduction Video
The Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights (CCFR) , quite possibly Canada’s most innovative firearm rights organization, has created an introduction video to acquaint Canadian gun owners with their organization. The timing of this is important because as gun owners we are mere months away from our lives being changed forever. Our ability to own and use certain firearms will be a thing of the past if we are unable to delay or stop the upcoming gun bans by the Liberal Party.

The CCFR asks only that firearms owners and the conservation community as a whole acquaint themselves with the organization and ensure they've entered the gun rights dialog to create meaningful opposition to the Liberal’s unprecedented firearm ban.
These Did You Know? articles, suggested by you as a source of quick reminders, highlight specific rules & briefly explaining their reasoning.

Did you know the safety curtain needs to be left in the up position (i.e. rolled up) if you're the last person leaving a range?

The Facility Rules state that the last member leaving a range must raise the safety curtain to the up position before departing. There are two reasons for this. First, safety curtains may become damaged if left rolled down and are blown about by the wind. Second, it leaves a clear signal to the next arriving member that no one is down range.
