Spotlight on the Pharmacy Contraception Service (PCS)

Reminder: 6 Months Until All Pharmacy First Providers Will Need to Provide the PCS to Protect the Monthly Fixed Pharmacy First Payment

Our records indicate that your pharmacy has not yet signed up to provide the Pharmacy Contraception Service (PCS) but that you are a Pharmacy First Service provider.

All pharmacies providing Pharmacy First will have to sign up to provide the PCS (by 31^st March 2025 at the latest) to be eligible for the monthly fixed Pharmacy First payment of £1000 which is paid to pharmacies meeting the minimum monthly activity threshold.

Don’t miss out on this vital funding by not offering the PCS. There may be 6 months before this is implemented but it is likely that members of the pharmacy team will need to undertake training. Please don’t leave it till the last minute.



Preparing for the Pharmacy Contraception Service – Things to Consider

- Start to think about training. Will you or any of the pharmacists in your team need to undertake any additional training to provide the service? What about other members of the pharmacy team? Have a look at this summary of training requirements here.

- Work through the CPE Pharmacy Owner Implementation Checklist which guides you through the steps needed to take to prepare for the service.

- When you are ready, sign up for the service via the NHS Business Services Authority’s (NHSBSA) Manage Your Service (MYS) portal declaration.
