Cool Books Club News
For our April meeting. the Cool Books Club will read Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion, by Father Gregory Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries, a gang-intervention program located in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. He has distilled his experience working in the ghetto into a breathtaking series of parables inspired by faith. This is a motivating look at how to stay faithful in spite of failure, how to meet the world with a loving heart, and how to conquer shame with boundless, restorative love.

We will meet via ZOOM at 7pm on Tuesday, April 6, If you would like to join us, please contact Josetta McLaughlin at josettamclaughlin027@gmail.com for a ZOOM invitation. Copies of this book are available at the public library or online.

The Pastor's Class continues: In the Beginning
Pastor Paul continues his weekly class on Sunday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m. The class will meet via Zoom.

The first topic will be to work our way through the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy). We will work our way roughly from start to finish in that order in the coming months but will not do a careful study of every verse. Rather, we will be looking for themes/theology and a general understanding of the stories contained in these important books of the Bible.

It will be useful to you to have a Bible handy for this class. Pastor Paul will teach with presentation slides but may wander into texts you would want to look up.

"I hope you'll join us for this theological romp through the first five books of Scripture!" Pastor Paul

Stephen Ministry
Support
Efforts to avoid the spread of COVID-19 have caused both physical and emotional isolation for many people.

Important and helpful conversations can take place via telephone and by computer (Zoom or FaceTime). CPC Stephen Ministers are congregation members who receive special training to provide confidential, one-to-one listening care to church and non-church members.

Stephen Ministers can also be helpful are if you are experiencing grief, divorce, hospitalization, disability, job loss, fertility issues and many other struggles of transition and change.

To learn how you or someone you know can receive care, please speak with a pastor or one of our Stephen Leader Referral Coordinators, Len Clark (919) 612-4302 or Linda Oglesby (919) 270-5980.
