The Alliance Francaise de Fresno and Fresno City College are sponsoring a panel discussion: "Debating Charlie: Making Sense of the Terror Attacks in France".
The event will take place in the Auditorium of the Old Administration Building on the campus of Fresno City College on February 13, 2015, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
At the invitation of the Alliance Franaise de Fresno, Pauline Carmona, Consule gnrale de France, has graciously accepted to participate in a public debate with academics from across California, moderated by Alliance Franaise directors and an organizer of the Campus-Community Colloquium. Questions gathered until the day of the debate will be compiled and summarized for the panel.

The following list of panelists is temporary as we await more responses from other local educational institutions.

  • Dr. Jimia Boutouba ,Santa Clara University, French and Francophone Studies
  • Dr. Marc Lony, Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, French Literature
  • Dr. Sarbjit Johal, Fresno City College, Political Science

  • Reza Nekumanesh, Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno

We hope for your support for our Annual Fundraiser - The proceeds go to the Scholarships we award in May to deserving College and High School students and to the Alliance Francaise cultural funds. We have many fine prizes this year; tickets are $5 each and 5 tickets for $20. (We only sell 1000 tickets so your odds are good!) AFF Directors will be calling members to ask for help selling tickets. Director Frederic Martin has made very helpful enhancements to the website - please note how convenient online purchases can be. Volunteers will also be selling tickets at the Vineyard Farmers Market (Shaw and Blackstone) Saturday mornings through Feb. 8th, and at La Boulangerie in Fig Garden Village Fridays at lunchtime.

Merci mille fois to the Vineyard Farmers Market and La Boulangerie for the great assistance they have given this project, and thank you for your support.
