Youth Catechism & Tea & Cocoa – Tues. Dec. 16th @ 6pm

Our final Youth Catechism of the year, led by Elias Anderson, will take place at the church on Tuesday, Dec. 16th at 6pm. Our middle and high school students will learn about the second half of the creed and have the chance to ask any questions. During the youth catechism, tea & cocoa will be available for our younger children and all parishioners to enjoy in the parish hall.

Virtual Lecture – Wed. Dec. 17th @ 6pm via Zoom

Please join us online on Wednesday, December 17th at 7:00 pm, as Fr. Theofanis Rauch offers the fifth and final talk of the year in our Theology and Culture Lecture Series entitled, Why Are Americans Coming To The Orthodox Church Today? All Saints has been blessed in recent years with many new converts who have made this community their spiritual home. Parishioners often ask who these newcomers are and what draws them to the Orthodox Church. Using a recently published and widely read article from the New York Times on this topic entitled Orthodox Church Pews Are Overflowing With Converts, Fr. Theofanis will reflect on why Americans are seeking Orthodoxy, and how we as a parish can continue to welcome them with wisdom, patience, and love. The Zoom link can be found on the parish calendar or by using the QR code on the flyer.

Philoptochos Knit-a-Thon & Clothing Drive – Sat. Dec. 20th 2pm-5pm

During this time, we will also be accepting any clothing donations that are dropped off at the church. All clothing will be given to the Peoria Friendship house in support of their compassionate ministries to those in need in our community.

Parish Council Elections Today

Wisdom of the Fathers

Every day this Supper is prepared and we are all invited to the kingdom which God prepared for man even before the foundation of the world. But we are not worthy of this Supper—some of us because of useless philosophical musings, others because of love of material things, and yet others because of pleasures of the flesh. But God in His love for man freely bestows this kingdom upon other sinners, upon the blind who have no spiritual vision to perceive the will of God; or if they can perceive it, upon those who are crippled and unable to take a step to do the will of God. And in short He grants the kingdom of heaven to all the poor who have fallen away from the glory above, and even to the maimed who cannot show forth in themselves a blameless life. To invite these sinners to the Supper, who are wandering astray in the streets and broad avenues of sin, the Father sends His Son Who became a Servant according to the flesh, and Who came not to call the righteous, but sinners. All these He feasts liberally, instead of the clever, the rich, and those who indulge the flesh.

St. Theophylact of Ochrid
