Virtual Lecture on the World of St. John of Damascus: Christians and Muslims in the 8th centuryMon. Dec. 1st @ 7pm via Zoom

Please join us for a lecture that explores the wider historical setting in which St. John of Damascus lived and wrote. The talk will examine the history and everyday life of the seventh- and eighth-century eastern Mediterranean world, including the rise of Islamic rule, the shifting fortunes of the Byzantine Empire, and the lived experience of Christian communities under the early caliphates. By placing St. John within this broader landscape, the lecture offers a clearer understanding of how to read his works and interpret his life in context. Presented by Prof. Kaleb Herman Adney of the University of Missouri–Kansas City on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 7pm, exclusively via Zoom.

Vigil w/ Veneration of Relics for St. John of Damascus - Wed. Dec. 3 @ 7pm

Philoptochos Meeting – Sun. Dec. 7th @ 12pm in Parish Hall

Wisdom of the Fathers

Let us all now extol the Apostle of the Lord as a preacher divine and eyewitness of the Word, and a spiritual fisher of the Gentiles indeed. It was he who guided us to the knowledge of Christ: the theologian Saint Andrew. And now unceasingly interceding, he entreats that our souls be saved.

Hymn from Orthros

Let us extol that preacher of the Faith and minister of the Word, Saint Andrew the Apostle. He fishes human beings out of the depths, holding the Cross instead of a pole, and letting down its power instead of a line. And he retrieves souls from the error of the foe, and he offers them to God as an acceptable gift. O believers, let us ever extol him, and the entire chorus of Disciples of Christ, so that he will intercede with the Lord to be merciful towards us on Judgment Day.

Doxastikon of Orthros
