President’s Message

Fellow Chapter Members,

We can finally say with certainty that GOLF SEASON IS HERE! What a great event at Farmstead Golf & CC to kick off the 2022 season! The weather cooperated, we played great golf at a beautiful course, enjoyed delicious food, and had the company of old and new friends! For this event, and any other events going forward, please send in your pictures to ChapterCommunications@lpgaamateursnnj.com. It will be fun to gain a collection of pictures throughout the season and we will try and display them at our end of year celebration.

And while the Opener may be behind us, the Board is busy planning future events!  As a reminder, we have many beginner clinics and group lessons with local courses scheduled; all different times, price points, and venues. We also have some Inter-Chapter Events coming up. These events are great for meeting other LPGA members from other Chapters. Please make a point to visit our website to familiarize yourself with events coming up. You won’t want to miss out.

Leagues have begun! The week of 5/2 began our 2022 Leagues. We had a mix of weather; but that’s May in New Jersey!

To all our new members…. WELCOME! Don’t forget even though Leagues have begun, you can still take advantage of our Sub List. This is a great way to meet different members, play different courses and play at your convenience. You can sign up to sub for as many leagues as you want for $36.00!

Also available are our Wednesday and Saturday travel leagues. This option is a “pay as you go” format. Communication will be sent leading up to the date or you can view the calendar of courses on our website and play when it fits your schedule.
Please also consider participating in our new Ambassador Program. This is a great way to meet new members and volunteer for the Chapter. See the website for details and if interested, contact memberservices@lpgaamateursnnj.com.
I look forward to seeing you all on the course at some point this season. I am subbing on various leagues this year, so I hope to run into many more of you!  Don’t forget to spread the word about our Chapter; it is another way to be an ambassador for our Chapter! Meet someone on the course? Tell them about us and ask them to join our group! The bigger our membership, the more benefits we can offer our members, make sponsorships more attractive, and will have the opportunity to offset more of the costs of events.
Happy Golfing…
Stefanie

Tee Off To The Green
Sun and Fun at Our "Tee Off to the Green" Season Opener - April 30, 2022
The Northern NJ Chapter’s "Tee Off to the Green" was everything we could have hoped for and more! Friendly chatter filled the air as we kicked off our 2022 season at Farmstead Golf and Country Club, where 18-holes of golf was followed up by a fun putting contest. The festivities continued inside, where we ate, drank, shopped, and laughed along with old and new friends alike. Congrats to all the prize winners and thank you to everyone that participated, especially the event organizers and volunteers
Annual Meeting
The Chapter held its first Annual Meeting via zoom on April 26th, 2022. Thirty-one members attended and you can find the recording of the session here:
LPGA Amateurs NNJ Ambassador Program
What is an ambassador? An ambassador is a person who represents our chapter and helps new members familiarize themselves with the LPGA Amateurs NNJ Chapter.

We envision an ambassador having three key responsibilities:

1. Reach out to their assigned new member on a regular basis to make sure they are having a positive experience
2. Answer questions regarding leagues, events, golf etiquette, and golf rules (etc)
3. Pair up on the links with your assigned member at an LPGA event or league

To become an ambassador, please send an email to Grace Tshanakas our Member Services Director, at memberservices@lpgaamateursnnj.com. Grace will then pair you with a new member(s).

Thank you for considering this important role and we look forward to your support!
Section Hdr-Events
Thank you to the Coastal Chapter for a great (but steamy day) at Galloping Hill. So great how many stayed for the festivities afterwards.

Going forward we will have other Interchapter events with Central Jersey and Westchester. Keep an eye out for more information!!

Do you know this Rule Change?
You can ground your club in a penalty area
There are no longer special rules that apply to you when playing from a penalty area. So now you’re allowed to ground your club and take practice swings like you would elsewhere on the course. You can also remove loose impediments so long as you don’t move your ball, improve your lie or improve the conditions affecting your stroke.
SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE
Where can you find over 250 golf-loving, fun-driven women who want to share, spend, and recommend goods and services? The members of the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the LPGA Amateur Association! Can you join the new sponsors committee to reach out to businesses to share their resources in exchange for the opportunity to connect to NNJ members? Email Vice President Susan Nostrame to be part of this committee. Not necessary, but if you have any experience in sales, marketing, fund raising, or just love people, we can’t wait to have you join the Sponsors Committee.
