Huge Shout Out to all Camp Chaperones!

Thanks to all the parents and guardians who gave the gift of their precious weekend time to chaperone our camps! We appreciate you!

Music Program Fees for 2022-2023

Because the program receives no money from the district aside from teacher’s salaries, there are annual program fees to seed things like sheet music and other expenses for the award-winning program to operate.

Annual Music Program Fee: $155

Every music student (band, orchestra, and choir) pays a one-time fee of $155. If your student is in two music groups, they only pay this fee once.

Additional Fees for Other Groups

If your student participates in one of the following groups, there are additional fees to cover the costs of instruction, music, and other things:

Jazz Band I = $150

Jazz Band II = $150

Percussion = $50

Fiddlers = $150

Camp Fees

Band Camp = $210

Orchestra Camp = $180

Choir Camp = $180

And remember–no one gets turned away due to financial reasons. Apply for a confidential scholarship here so teachers can budget appropriately.

All Band students must buy an ASB card: $35

And ASB card is mandatory for all band members. The ASB card allows band members free entrance to football and basketball games.

Note: You can't pay for this on the BPA Boosters site; you must pay on School Pay via the parents’ Source site, or at the fiscal office at BHS (in the Commons).

With an ASB card, students also get a reduced entrance price at other athletic events. If you have an ASB card from playing a sport at BHS, you don’t need another one.

Pay Fees

Tuxedo Updates

For students wearing a tuxedo, you need to purchase a tux shirt and studs (approximately $30 from Ted Brown Music, near the University District).  Or, ask Jill for previously used tux shirts with studs passed down from other students for $15.

Choir Camp Recap

The Concert and Advanced Chorale choirs just returned from an amazing weekend at Camp Burton! The weather was amazing, and so were the students who worked hard to learn new music and strengthen friendships and bonds which will propel them into a wonderful year of music.

We were SO incredibly impressed by the kids' level of responsibility around the camp and the level of empathy, inclusion, and support they showed for one another. We even heard a string of "thank you's" to the bus driver as we got off. This is a top-notch group of kids! Also a huge thank you to our fantastic chaperones who spent the weekend with us. We couldn't have down it without you!

Synopsis: In this outstanding translation, Seamus Heaney exposes the darkness and the humanity in Sophocles’ masterpiece Antigone and inks it with his own modern and masterly touch. Sophocles’ play stands as a timely exploration of the conflict between those who affirm the individual’s human rights and those who must protect the state’s security. 2022-2023 Season is an example of a powerful female who stands up for her beliefs courageously because the consequences are so great. The Heaney version of the story also takes aim at modern society, as Creon’s burial decree is similar to President George W. Bush’s “you’re either with us, or against us” mantra after the 9/11 attacks. Sadly, this mentality has reared its ugly head again with the Trump presidency. A person in power who refuses to listen to wise counsel or refuses to admit wrongs or won’t change when all the signs are saying ‘It’s a good idea to do so’ will cause tragic results. The BHS production will be set in 2016 during the Women’s March in Washington DC, bringing Sophocles’ 5th Century BC drama to the forefront of American politics and battle for human rights yet again.
