Burlingame PD co-sponsoring National Night Out on August 2

On Tuesday, August 2, neighborhoods throughout Burlingame are invited to join forces with thousands of other communities nationwide for the National Night Out crime prevention event.  National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and is co-sponsored locally by the Burlingame Police Department.  Over 15,000 communities from all 50 states are expected to participate in this year's "America's Night Out Against Crime."

From 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., people in neighborhoods throughout Burlingame are asked to turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outdoors with neighbors.  Many neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties and cookouts.

If you plan on hosting a neighborhood event and would like members of the Burlingame Police Department to visit, please RSVP to Captain Mike Matteucci by phone at (650) 777-4143 or by email at matteu@burlingamepolice.org.

homesharingHome Sharing Program
$250 incentive for renters

HIP Housing, a non-profit organization with over 40 years of housing experience, is reaching out to the community to promote its Home Sharing program. The Home Sharing program matches persons who have a room to rent in their home in San Mateo County with persons who live, work, attend school or have a housing voucher for the County. HIP Housing helps to connect people in living arrangements whereby a home seeker pays rent or exchanges help with cooking, cleaning and other household duties for reduced rent. There is no fee to participate. Home Sharing benefits the community by reducing housing costs for all and providing an affordable housing arrangement in one of the most expensive areas of the Country.

With funding from San Mateo County, a one-time $250 incentive is provided to persons who rent a room to someone in our program 90 days after they move in. Now is the time to put that extra room in your home to good use! Earn extra monthly income as well as a $250 incentive!

If you or someone you know would like to find a housemate to help reduce housing or utility costs or to provide some assistance in the home, please contact Laura Fanucchi at (650) 348-6660 x 303 or lfanucchi@hiphousing.org to schedule a convenient time to complete an application at one of our four San Mateo County offices.
