On July 3, the City Council placed the Burlingame Essential Services Measure on the November 2017 ballot. If enacted, the proposed ΒΌ cent local sales tax will help fund priorities such as enhancing public safety services, fixing potholes, and providing safe, adequate recreation facilities.
playgroundTrenton Playground Closed July 12-17

The Trenton Playground is scheduled for repairs to the safety surfacing. As such, a complete closure of the playground is necessary from Wednesday, July 12 through Monday, July 17. GrantBurlingame Receives $50,000 Habitat Restoration Grant

The City of Burlingame is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $50,000 Habitat Conservation Grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation. These matching funds will be put towards modifications and improvements in the 28 acre open space in general and specifically addressing drainage, erosion and safety issues along the Ed Taylor Trail. The work is expected to take a little more than a year to complete and will include additional interpretative signage on the trail to provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of this priceless natural treasure here in Burlingame and encourage its continued preservation and stewardship.

BayfrontThe Bayfront is Open for Business!

Don't let the Broadway interchange construction keep you away - the businesses on the City's Bayfront are open! The renovation of the Broadway overpass is estimated to continue into summer 2017. During these last few months of construction, our Bayshore Highway businesses could really use your help.  Please come on down and enjoy the wonderful hotels, restaurants, and services offered right along the Bay!

climateBurlingame Joining Climate Mayors Network

Burlingame's City Council adopted an exciting resolution this week to support the Paris Climate Agreement and join the Climate Mayors Network. The Paris Climate Agreement is an agreement among countries to limit greenhouse gases and prevent global temperatures from increasing above 2 degrees. It is non-binding and was signed by 196 parties in December 2015 in Paris. The Climate Mayors Network is a network of over 200 mayors from around the country committed to climate actions. Joining these efforts reinforces the City's ongoing climate actions, which include: updating our Climate Action Plan, purchasing 100% renewable energy, and promoting electric vehicles

The Music in the Park concert series is brought to you by Burlingame Parks and Recreation Department and Veolia Water.  All concerts are free!   Bring your chair or blanket. Food, beer and wine will be available for purchase. There will be face painting, a food vendor and other sweet treats. Also, the Burlingame Art Society will be on-site hosting open houses at each concert to display some of their amazing artwork. Please join Burlingame CERT for this evening presentation by Tom Brocher, Ph.D., the Team Chief Scientist on the Earthquake Hazards Team and recent Coordinator for Northern California Earthquake Hazard Investigations for the USGS in Menlo Park where he has worked for 23 years. Using maps, Tom will be highlighting areas of our city which are potentially more prone to damage during an earthquake. What can you expect if you live or work in these areas and what can you do to mitigate the risks?

Learn the basics of solar PV, benefits of going solar, the options you have and purchasing tips, and all the steps to installing solar PV in a home.
