Offering HeART and SoulCollage® workshops to inspire your creative spirit | | Artwork: Santiam Canyon Fire 2020 by GG | |
Greetings!
As I write this there are over thirty large active wildfires burning in the state of Oregon and 1.6 million acres have already burned. In many places the air carries the bitter scent of smoke and sunsets are a brilliant splash of red and orange. Forests that have stood quietly for generations are disappearing in a matter of hours. Wildlife flees in confusion, firefighters push themselves beyond exhaustion, and a familiar sadness settles in my heart. I feel a grief that is difficult to name. I mourn what has already been lost and the uncertainty of what a recent thunder and lightening storm may bring.
The hardest thing for me about the raging fires is that there is nothing I can do but grieve and pray. The second hardest thing for me is that our human footprint on Mother Earth is a big part of the cause.
As a balm for my broken heart, a friend recently sent me this beautiful prayer (the author is unknown):
Do not forget that the ashes falling from the sky are all that remains of the pine and grass and thistle and bear and coyote and deer and mouse that could not escape.
Scoop some up in a sacred manner. Take it to your altar. Offer prayers for these beings. Honor their death. Pray for life. Call in rain.
Remind Fire that it is full, has gobbled enough, and can rest.
May all beings be safe.
May all beings be loved.
May all beings be remembered.
May all beings be mourned.
The Earth will no doubt survive and thrive after the fires. New green growth will cover the ground. Wildflowers will pop up. Life will be resored to the burned land. But it will take hundreds of years to replace those forests, if ever.
With a fire of sadness and loss burning in my heart, I will keep tending the small flames that heal instead of harm—kindness, gratitude, creativity, and hope. May we all become caretakers of the Earth and faithful witnesses to Her remarkable ability to begin again.

Just because it's so much fun!
I taught Gelli Plate printing at the FOBA conference in July and was reminded how much fun it is to play with monoprinting on silicone plates in the company of other artists. We shared ideas and inspired one another to try all kinds of new experimental techniques -- not the least of which involves playdoh -- yes, PLAYDOH!
So, I've decided to offer a Gelli Plate printing class in my studio this fall. Come and join me for a monoprinting extravaganza!
Saturday October 3, 2026
9:00 am to 4:00 pm
GG's Down to Earth Studio, Salem, OR
You'll go home with a beautiful collection of prints. What do you do with them? Gelli prints are a beautiful collection of visual ingredients. Like a painter's palette or a basket of fabrics, they become the raw material for countless creative projects. Use them for collage, mixed media, books and journals, cards and paper crafts, home decor, nature-inspired projects, gifts, creative play, group activities -- the possibilities are almost endless!
$85.00 All materials provided.
Or, bring all your own supplies and only pay a $25 studio fee.

| Autumn Alchemy: An Eco-Dyeing Workshop | | |
Eco-dyeing is a practice of slowing down, paying attention, and collaborating with the living world. Each bundle unfolds as a one-of-a-kind expression of the season, an invitation to wonder, curiosity, and letting go of expectations.
Saturday and Sunday, November 7 - 8, 2026

As autumn paints the landscape with rich color and abundance, we’ll gather the season’s leaves, flowers, bark, and other botanical treasures to discover the magic they hold. Over two immersive days, you’ll learn the art of eco-dyeing as we bundle, steam, and reveal the beautiful prints and natural pigments hidden within plants. We’ll experiment with paper, silk, and wool, embracing the surprises that emerge as nature becomes our creative partner.
Whether you’re new to eco-dyeing or returning to deepen your practice, you’ll leave with a collection of naturally dyed papers and textiles, new techniques, and a renewed appreciation for the artistry that unfolds when we create in partnership with the earth.

It’s all yours to enjoy in a community of kindred spirits.
GG and Dayna will be your midwives clearing the way for you to step out of what you think is true about your creative self, and step into an environment where you feel free to birth whatever wants to be expressed.

Breitenbush SoulCollage ® Retreat
“The Return of Grace: Reclaiming the Sacred Feminine”
| | |
Friday evening September 18th through noon on Monday the 21st, 2026
Join us for a soulful retreat at the serene and healing grounds of Breitenbush Hot Springs: “The Return of Grace: Reclaiming the Sacred Feminine” SoulCollage® Retreat
Autumn + Sacred Feminine + Healing
In the golden hush of autumn, we mirror the Earth — letting go of what no longer serves, composting old identities, and preparing the inner soil for new life. Through SoulCollage®, council, ritual, reflection, and rest, we gather to remember the Sacred Feminine as she lives within and around us — the part of us that knows how to soften, receive, and heal.
Equinox invites us to balance the feminine and masculine energies within self and culture, doing our part to heal the wounds of overdrive, competition, and depletion through receptivity, intuition, and care. Guided by archetypes of the Sacred Feminine, we’ll explore the path to allowing the feminine to rise again, radiant and whole.
This retreat is full. Contact Breitenbush to get on the waiting list.
