Burseth Farm - Meet Our Team

If you are new to us you might like to know who answers the phone, makes the products you love.  We're a small but mighty farm family company.
Brothers Derek and Gavin Burseth make all the products.  All products are tested on us!  We milk the goats, make the soaps, cut the soaps, take care of the animals, ship the products, run the website and more.  Our Mom - Cheryl labels the soaps, works at shows and our shop and is there to support us

How We Started
After the 2008 economy, Derek Burseth left racing and bought a small farm near Woodstock, IL.  The brothers made their first batch of soap in 2012 with goat  milk from their farm.  Taking an old family recipe and experimenting with it, they created the basic recipe that all of Burseth Farm Goat Milk soaps are made with today.  The goat milk soap was first used by our family and then friends who told us "this is the best soap I have ever  used."  Most of our customers are fed up  with store bought soaps that contain harsh detergents while our soaps are moisturizing, gentle, great senses and all natural.  People who suffer from dry, sensitive skin love our soap.  Everyone else loves it also.  That is why we say, "We Make It, You;ll Love it.  "  The first Burseth Goat Milk soaps were a smash from the start.
All of our products are made in our soap room on our farm,

Today
Burseth Farm ships to all fifty states.  Many customers insist our soaps have solved their skin problems, such as eczema and psoriasis .  Well-off what we do and are grateful for your support.  Burseth brothers are devoted to creating all natural goat milk soaps and other products like creme, lotions, sugar scrubs, bath products, lip balm and our popular Nordic Ice Rub.  We also carry some vegan products.  All of our products can be used by people, pets and are environmentally friendly.  We believe in what we make.  We have done a lot of events and shows, farmers' markets, craft fairs.

Our Soaps and Other Products
The excellence of our soaps comes from the integrity of our basic ingredients.  All of our soaps start with goat milk from our farm and the best of the oils that nourish your skin.  By blending goat milk with four base oils - olive, coconut, shea butter and castor - we craft a bar of soap that's moisturizing, luxuriously lathering, and smells wonderful.  The type of soap making we  use is called "cold process soap" and the soap takes 6 weeks to cure.  You can pronounce the ingredients in all of our products unlike  commercial soaps that have a lot of chemicals. No matter which scent you choose, each homemade goat milk soap is great for revitalizing your body and helping your skin feel soft, clean, and fresh. Check out our soap collection online or at our store to find the perfect soap for you!
New Essential and Organic Essential Goat Milk Soaps.
These soaps cost slightly more because of the essential oils used to scent the soap are rare or expensive.  These have been very popular.  We have Rosemary, Tea Tree, Anise, Lemongrass essential oils.  Our Organic Essential Goat Milk Soaps are: Cinnamon, Lavender, Citronella - Bug Off, Patchouli, Lemongrass

Goat Milk Laundry
Love the way our goat milk soap cleans your skin?  So now that you have bought Goat Milk Soap , Goat Milk Lotion, and have switched over to healthy, all natural, and nourishing skin products, what other measures can you take to keep your skin and body healthy?  Well let's start with using this product in your washing machine.  Many people have complaints of itchy skin and the first thought is that your skin is dry and you need lotion; or perhaps you are allergic to your soap or body wash. However, if you are experiencing an itching sensation all over your body, not just your hands, then the problem may be your laundry detergent! The detergent you used to wash your clothes gets in the fabric and can rub off the clothing onto your skin. You would think this wouldn't really affect your skin, but it could be the cause of your skin irritations! If your skin is extra sensitive to certain ingredients, it doesn't take much to irritate it.  Don't worry our homemade laundry soap is natural and kind to your skin.  It will leave your clothes feeling and smelling fresh!
Use between 1TBSP (heaping) and 3TBSP per load - depending on size and dirtiness.  Pre treat stain.
Tips:
1.Add a 1 TBSP  white vinegar to your load if extra smelly.
2.  Be careful not to use too much soap, especially with front-loaders,since they use less water.  You want to make sure you don't add too much detergent, as it will not be able to dissolve completely. This will make your clothes look dingy (from having soap on them still!). :-)  One would think the opposite: that they are dingy because there wasn't enough soap, but that's not true.

Last year most popular soap and product.
Our most popular soap last year was Black raspberry and Vanilla.  Our Goat Milk Creme has a dedicated following.  Our Nordic Ice Rub is indispensable for people who have  aches and pains.

Burseth Military Display/ Memorial Day Ceremony/ Parade Woodstock
Burseth Farm was recently asked to display military memorabilia in their store window on the Woodstock Square.   We was more than willing. Our exhibit, at  is one of about a dozen displays that were arranged in storefront windows in honor of the approaching 150th Memorial Day holiday May 30.
Our display includes our Grandfather's uniforms and pictures. Donald Noah who has passed  served in WWII with the Army Air Corp as a pilot and retired from the Air Force reserves as a Major.  Gordon Burseth was a paratrooper during WWII.  We also have Wesley Noah's World War WWI papers and two other uniforms from citizens of Woodstock.  Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service to your country.  We have ancestors that go back to the Revolutionary War.
Woodstock VFW Post 5040 will host a Memorial Day ceremony and parade in Woodstock to honor the men and women who have died in military service for the United States.  The post will hold a ceremony in the bandstand located in the center of the Woodstock Square starting at 10 a.m. Monday, May 25.
