The Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance is a coalition of 16 chambers and economic development organizations from across northern Michigan. Our coalition exists to advocate for rural northern Michigan and move forward with rural-centric business policy.

Focus is given to supporting the success of existing northern Michigan businesses, developing and attracting a talented workforce in northern Michigan, and maximizing the competitiveness of the rural northern Michigan business environment. The Alliance includes nine Partners, one Supporting Partner, six Associate Partners, and over 7,000 member businesses from across northern Michigan.

U.S. Senator Gary Peters Visits Manistee to Engage on Transformative Rail Project

We proudly welcomed U.S. Senator Gary Peters of Michigan, along with Kelly Lively and Stevie Quijas from the Senator's team to engage in discussions about the opportunity for Manistee County's Safer Southern Rail Route, which would be a transformative project. It would have a substantial economic impact on our community.

Supreme Court’s Ruling on Michigan’s Paid Sick Leave and Minimum Wage Laws: What Needs to Change


The Michigan Supreme Court ruled on July 31, 2024, that two 2018 ballot initiatives to increase the state’s minimum wage and mandate paid sick leave requirements for employers should be put into effect — despite never being voted on by the people — saying the strategy the Michigan Legislature used to adopt alternative legislation violated the Michigan Constitution.
