How to Support Local Businesses
|
|
Here are some easy ways to support our local business community:
- Give the Gift of Business - If you usually frequent a business, buy a gift card that covers your usual patronage. Then either spread out the use of those gift card over time while you continue to support them when the threat has passed, or give them away as gifts to friends and neighbors.
- Keep your Memberships and Subscriptions - If you have a subscription or a membership do keep it going. Many small businesses and non-profits rely on that support to keep doors open and programming going. "This too shall pass...", so when the dust settles, you will want to be back in that painting class, picking up your ukulele or hitting the gym. The continued support you give can literally save that business.
- Buy Now, Pickup Later - If you were planning to go out and buy manufactured products like clothing, home goods and yard supplies - give that business a call. Pay for it now and have them set it aside for you to pick up later. For business that offer online - shop away!!

Win local gift cards & be a 2020 Clam Fest Parade Marshals!
During this time of social distancing let’s remember our local businesses economy! The Chamber is rolling out a “Support our Local Economy!” Contest through Social Media! Let’s do this, our business friends need your support!
If you are working from the safety of your home, or still out and about,
here’s how to enter:
Until April 13, 2020 we want you to post how you are supporting local business with a Facebook check in and/or photo.
- For those who are not up for public, this could be a picture of the food or items you had delivered or the item you purchased locally online.
- For others who are still venturing out, snap a photo at the curbside pick up (that many of our local restaurants are offering), or at the table if you’ve gone in. Take a selfie pic at the gym or at the store that is still open... we know you like the selfies, show us!!
Rules
: PLEASE only go into businesses if you are healthy and safe to do so. Delivery, curbside pick up and other means are ok! Keep those hands clean and limit contact with others.
- Must support a local Yarmouth establishment (they do not need to be a chamber member)...ordering TP off of Amazon does not count.
- You HAVE to tag the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce (use the @ symbol follow immediately by our name) and make sure our seal shows up (tagging Yarmouth MA won’t enter you and will just confuse someone there).
- Must be your own post and not in the comments of someone else’s. We need to be able to find it!
- More than one post is acceptable but must be at/with/about a different location.
We will be collecting names of all individual posts and will do a drawing the week of April 13, 2020. Winner will receive gift cards to area businesses AND... will be one of our 2020 Clam Fest Parade Marshals!!
Please note, winning post may be subject to fact check so keep it true. And again, please only go out if you feel safe to do so. No need to put yourself or others at risk. Thank you!
May the Supporting Begin!!!
