A Special Message from Casey Wyman
Hello colleagues,
One year ago, our university faced an unimaginable tragedy. A senseless act of gun violence took three faculty members’ lives and critically injured another. We will always honor and remember professors Jerry Cha-Jan Chang, Patricia Navarro Velez, and Naoko Takemaru and their lasting contributions to our Rebel community.
Over the past year, we’ve embarked on a shared journey of healing and recovery. In Business Affairs, I’ve been moved by the resilience and dedication displayed by our team. I’ve witnessed colleagues with varied expertise come together to repair our buildings and enhance campus safety measures – an extraordinary effort that ensured we could continue delivering on our mission to educate students. Most importantly, I’ve seen our team members support one another when they needed it the most.
As the holiday season shifts into full gear and we look ahead to the new year, let us remember that recovery is a personal and ongoing process. Please continue to check in on one another and utilize our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and other mental health and wellness resources, if needed.
Thank you for your continued dedication, care, and compassion as we move forward together.
Sincerely,
| |

October Employee Appreciation Recipients
Gina Gamble
Real Estate
Gina was nominated for collaborating with Clark County and Lied Library staff to extend an agreement allowing the library to serve as an early voting site and Election Day polling location.
Her efforts to secure approvals and arrange staffing ensured our community had a convenient and accessible place to vote. The long line of voters at Lied Library on Election Day reflects her dedication to fostering civic engagement and providing a valuable resource to UNLV.

Ricky Rideout
Risk Management & Safety
Ricky was nominated for his innovative approach to managing hazardous waste. His leadership has set a standard for empowering chemical users on campus to take environmentally responsible actions and contributes to a safer, healthier, and compliant campus.
Thanks to his team’s outreach, training, and inspections, UNLV was recently praised by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection with no violations found during their inspection—a remarkable achievement for an institution of our size.
