Save the Date for Open Enrollment and Wellness Fair

May 12, 2026 | Student Union

11 a.m to 4 p.m.

All faculty and staff are invited to the Open Enrollment and Wellness Fair on May 12.

The event is composed of two parts: the Open Enrollment and Wellness Resource Fair and RebelWELL Pathways to Wellness sessions. At the fair, you’ll be able to connect with benefits providers, campus partners, and wellness organizations. This is a great opportunity to ask questions about your options for healthcare, dental, and voluntary benefits. Additionally, you’ll learn about health resources and wellness programs that support your health, well-being, and work-life balance. The fair will be open from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. in Room 208, so feel free to drop in whenever it works best for you.

The RebelWELL Pathways to Wellness sessions will be offered throughout the day in nearby breakout rooms. These are short, practical drop-in sessions—no need to register in advance. Check out the schedule below.

February Employee Appreciation Recipients

Derrick Monroe

Derrick Monroe, Facilities Management

Derek was nominated for going above and beyond to support the Custodial department during a challenging situation.

When the department’s washing machine stopped working and repairs were delayed, he stepped in to make sure operations continued without interruption. Derrick collected towels and mop heads and brought them to a laundromat despite cold and rainy conditions.

He washed 1,300 microfiber towels and 130 mop heads, then transported the heavy wet laundry back to campus to dry.

His willingness to take on this responsibility ensured the department could function effectively during the outage.

Thank you, Derrick, for your dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic!

Kotoe Kida

Kotoe Kida, Financial Services

Kotoe was nominated for her outstanding impact in accounting, banking operations, audit preparation, and compliance.

She has played a key role in improving processes, supporting year-end audit preparation, and implementing a new accounting standard that enhances how employee annual and sick leave is tracked and reported. Her attention to detail, analytical skills, and willingness to support others have improved efficiency, accuracy, and teamwork.

Her commitment to clear communication, collaboration, and thoughtful problem -solving strengthens relationships across departments.

Thank you, Kotoe, for your dedication and for having a positive impact on our campus community!

Scenes from Take Your Child to Work Day

GIF showing rotating images of kids participating in Take Your Child to Work Day

On Thursday, April 23, we welcomed young rebels to our campuses to celebrate National Take Your Child to Work Day. Throughout the day, UNLV employees and their families enjoyed a wide range of activities hosted by departments, schools, and colleges across campus.

One event that is always a fan favorite is the fire prevention station hosted by Business Affairs’ Risk Management & Safety (RMS) team. They partnered with the Nellis Air Force Base Fire Department to bring their fire prevention truck to campus and RMS team members were on-site teaching the kids how to properly use a fire extinguisher. A special thank you to the RMS team for going the extra mile to host this event every year!

Many Business Affairs employees brought their kids to campus to take part in the fun! Thank you to everyone who submitted photos.
