UNLV After Hours: On Shift with the Custodial Night Crew

UNLV campus at night

While most of campus is winding down for the day, UNLV’s custodial night crew is just getting started. Go behind the scenes with the night crew and see UNLV after hours in this feature on the News Center.

Spotlight on Service

In October 2025, we distributed our annual Business Affairs customer service survey. Many of our campus colleagues replied to the survey with notes of praise for our hard-working teams. See below for some highlights for Custodial.

“Can’t say enough about the tough job they do everyday. What a fantastic team and excellent job keeping our buildings spotless.”

“Fantastic. This team is never seen. They work behind the scenes to maintain our offices and every time they are amazing.  We know several of them and they are super friendly and always helpful. They are my favorite nighttime crew!!”

“Custodial is usually always on it. Requests seem to be taken care of pretty quickly and they have been great to work with. Everyone is friendly and helpful.”

“Our general workspaces are always very clean and they are quick to respond to emergency requests.”

Jessie Devine to Represent Business Affairs on the Faculty Senate

Jessie Devine head shot

Jessie Devine, communications specialist for Business Affairs, will represent Business Affairs administrative faculty on the UNLV Faculty Senate.

In the role, Jessie will bring Business Affairs perspectives to university-level discussions and decisions while strengthening the division’s participation in shared governance. She will also participate in Administrative Faculty Committee (AFC) meetings.

Business Affairs employees are encouraged to contact Jessie with university issues, concerns, or perspectives.

Thank you to our outgoing Business Affairs senator Gina Gamble for her service throughout her three-year term.

Correction: Faculty and Staff Pricing at the Dining Commons

In our last edition, we published a review of the Hazel M. Wilson Dining Commons with outdated pricing information. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The standard lunch rate at the Dining Commons is $12.

As of August 1, the faculty and staff lunch rate is $10. This rate is available on Wednesdays and Fridays. Faculty and staff may also consider one of two meal plan options; see the UNLV Eats Meal Plans Overview for details.

Share Your Feedback about the Rebel Route

UNLV has launched a pilot of designated lanes for bikes, scooters, carts, and other wheeled conveyances. The L-shaped route, called the Rebel Route, extends from the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC) to Hospitality Hall (HOS), and from HOS to the Student Union (SU). A designated dismount zone is located between HOS and Lied Library.

This improvement is accompanied by other changes made to support safer use of wheeled conveyances. This includes new signage outside 9 buildings and 38 new scooter racks at 15 campus locations adjacent to existing bicycle racks.

If you walk, bike, ride a scooter, drive a cart, or otherwise travel through the Rebel Route, please complete the Rebel Route survey. It takes approximately 5-10 minutes, and responses are anonymous.

Your feedback will help UNLV evaluate the pilot and determine whether and where designated lanes should be expanded to other parts of campus. For questions about the survey, contact Heather Ortiz
