| | The Greatest Human Potential Accelerator in History | | To align with the start of the fall semester, the Las Vegas Sun published a guest “Where I Stand” column featuring Interim President Chris Heavey. In the article, Heavey highlights the important role UNLV plays within our community and how we change the course of students' lives. Read the full article on The Las Vegas Sun website. | | National Hispanic Heritage Month | |
National Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, honors the rich cultural contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. The annual celebration recognizes the diverse histories, traditions, and achievements of people with roots in Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
Throughout the month, events and educational programs highlight the influence of Hispanic and Latino communities on American society in fields such as art, music, literature, politics, and science. National Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate this heritage, recognize its lasting impact, and take part in activities that honor the communities it represents.
Celebrate by signing up for Tile Painting on Sept. 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Student Union. Inspired by traditional Mexican Talavera ceramics, the event invites participants to paint their own tile and learn about the artistry behind the designs.
