What does the Chamber do for you?
Besides BetterBuySooke.ca, besides the annual awards, besides the networking, and besides the benefit program? We're glad you asked. The Sooke Region Chamber of Commerce is a part of a bigger network that spans the region, the province, the country and the world.

At a time like this, it matters.

Advocacy produces real results . What businesses in Sooke are going through reflects the experience of SMEs Canada wide. In BC, the provincial chamber was instrumental in the recently announced change is the expansion of the temporary layoff period from 13 weeks to 16 weeks , for the duration of this COVID-19 crisis.

Advocacy gets SME plights heard . Also, as a direct result of the provincial survey distributed by community Chambers such as ours, we're receiving spotlight attention on the excessive hardships faced by many small and medium business owners, like this CTV News article, " Many businesses reaching point of no return ." It is these efforts, and your participation, that eventually leads to the many support announcements that have come and will be coming from the various levels of governments.

Connections get results . BetterBuySooke.ca is one of the best examples of your Chamber's responsiveness to crisis. Because of our boards active community involvement, and because various players champion the hard work of our local business owners, this online gift-card mall was created in a heartbeat and provided free to local business owners, irregardless of membership.

PS, did you know that while we are membership-based, our services are available to ALL businesses in Sooke.
