Survey launched to gauge Comox Valley business climate

The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce, Comox Valley Economic Development Society (CVEDS), Cumberland Economic Development and MNP LLP have partnered to launch the third edition of a survey to assess the local business climate and economic outlook in the Comox Valley.

Modelled after similar surveys conducted by MNP in other communities across Canada, the MNP Business Leaders Survey is a short pulse survey conducted by telephone with a sample of 200 local business leaders. The goal is to provide an economic snapshot on a range of topics including business climate, hiring intentions, growth expectations, key challenges and other local issues. 

Results of the survey will be released at an economic outlook breakfast hosted by the Chamber on January 16, 2020. Tickets for the event can be purchased on the Chamber website at https://web.comoxvalleychamber.com/ .

Fifth Street Bridge Rehabilitation Survey

The City of Courtenay is planning to rehabilitate the Fifth Street Bridge in 2021, including upgrades to cycling and pedestrian connections across the Courtenay River.

JABC- Junior Achievement British Columbia

JABC provides FREE programs to schools, focused on Financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship curriculum.The Programs are delivered by Volunteer Community leaders, Professionals and Business Owners. The program JABC is needing help with is Business of Our Own, where students have first hand experience being small business owners. Students chose, produce, finance, market and sell their products to their peers.

This online course aims to give employees the best possible understanding of the differences between medical and recreational cannabis, their responsibilities when using medical cannabis in the workplace, and employer responsibilities. This course explains the laws relating to human rights legislation and the duty to accommodate employees who have medical authorization to use cannabis.
