Dear Berwyn Businesses,

We are working closely with the City of Berwyn and the State of Illinois to understand recent changes to business hours and operations.

At yesterday’s press conference, Governor J. B. Pritzker announced that all restaurants and businesses across the state will close to dine-in customers effective at 9:00 pm March 16 through March 30. This applies to all restaurants and bars, regardless of capacity. Curbside and delivery services are not currently impacted by this moratorium.

As of 11:00 am today, this restriction was extended to all licensed gaming establishments of any kind.

Economic Relief and Resources
The BDC understands that this and other measures taken by the State and Federal governments in response to the COVID-19 outbreak will have a significant impact on our local business community.

Many businesses that have reduced hours or mandated closures will have a lower than normal need for staff. For workers temporarily laid off, the Illinois Department of Employment Security is offering short-term unemployment insurance benefits. Guidance on eligibility and how to file a claim can be found on the IDES website below.

Please note that there is a large volume of traffic to the website at the moment.

CITY OF BERWYN UPDATES
