Providence. September 12, 2016. In the US, the black hair care industry is a $2.7 billion industry according to Mintel, the global market research firm. Black owned beauty salons are a solid business opportunity for the black women who own them, providing wealth for many and many thousands of jobs for the women who work in the salon as stylists and other certified technicians.

Lisa Ranglin, President of the Rhode Island Black Business Association stated, "Here in Rhode Island as elsewhere, beauty salons owned by black women are highly profitable. These women are building their businesses inspired by Madame C.J. Walker, the first self made American woman millionaire who started her specialized black hair care business in the early 1900's".

An example of one such business, Bliss Salon, owned by Christine M. Paige, opened in 2014 and in just two short years, she is expanding from 3 stylists with the ability to hire up to 5 more and increasing square footage from 700 to 1900 sq ft.

She created an atmosphere where all nationalities are comfortable to #getBlissed. Commenting on her path to success, Ms. Paige said, "owning an upscale, full service, diverse salon has been a lifelong dream. From my days in training at Paul Mitchell the School, and then becoming a cosmetology instructor, to opening my first salon in Providence took time and a lot of hard work. I'm excited to now be in a position to expand and make my new salon an even bigger success."

Bliss Salon plans a Grand Opening with refreshments and entertainment on September 15th at their new location on Federal Hill at 239 Atwells Avenue, 5-8pm. The public is cordially invited.  Bliss owner, Christine Paige can be reached at 401-256-9895.
