UCI 2019 business road shows
 
A series of free-to-attend 'Harrogate Welcomes the World' road show events will highlight how local companies and organisations can maximise the business opportunities presented by one of the world's biggest sporting events.
 
The cycling championships take place in Yorkshire 21-29 September , with Harrogate being the main competition town where every race will finish.

Harrogate Borough Council is staging  a series of  road shows  throughout the district, with the first on 27 March in Harrogate, then on to Masham, Ripon,  Knaresborough and Pa teley Bridge. 
 
Each roadshow will feature speakers from local organising committee Yorkshire 2019, the council and a marketing master class from Harrogate-based PR firm Cicada.
Harrogate and Leeds City Region at MIPIM
Invest in Harrogate was a key message being showcased by the council at the international MIPIM event this March, alongside our partners the Leeds City Region.

Apprenticeships - investing in talent, growing your business   
National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) in early March saw companies, training providers and business organisations celebrate the positive opportunities apprenticeships bring to the apprentice and businesses employing them.

Supporting NAW, the North Yorkshire and East Riding Enterprise Partnership LEP have published an Employers Apprenticeship Toolkit , with advice for businesses of every size - from up skilling the existing workforce to recruiting for new roles. 
 
Regional businesses have joined the LEP and NYBEP to create  showcase videos, including local firms  GSPK Circuits Ltd and  Prospect Health, highlighting how apprenticeships bring innovation, raise productivity and support staff retention.
Project Development and Finance Workshops:supporting business innovation to reduce energy
Reducing energy costs and tackling climate change are two of the reasons behind a new business support initiative.
 
A series of free, monthly workshops are being offered to businesses and organisations across the Leeds City Region (including Harrogate) that are looking to carry out energy saving and renewable projects. Held in Leeds, the Project Development and Finance Workshops will cover: 
  • 26 March: The benefits of energy efficiency and low carbon business
  • 30 April: Business case development and risk assessment
  • 21 May: Reviewing financial options and business models
  • 18 June: Building board level support and securing investor buy-in
Organised by the Leeds Climate Commission, the workshops are run by regional and national experts, and will review real case-studies whilst supporting best practice.
