UPDATE TO THE UCALGARY
BACHELOR OF NURSING PROGRAM - RURAL COMMUNITY
"Wainwright is coming upon its third intake of students in the fall of 2023. Once these three cohorts (intake 2021, 2022, 2023) have completed their four-year program, it is expected that 23 new registered nurses will join the workforce in this region. These nursing professionals will make a significant and positive impact on the workforce needs of our rural healthcare sites, which as you’re aware, face some of our most difficult recruitment challenges across the province.

The University of Calgary is pleased to share that the degree program will become even more impactful across the Central Zone – and more sustainable into the future.

Our shared efforts include expanding the program to Drayton Valley, with the aim of producing more locally grown nurses to join healthcare teams in their home communities.
