The Honorable Robert E. Bacharach, a Judge with the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, will continue to discuss some of the key concepts addressed in his recent book, Legal Writing: A Judge’s Perspective on the Science and Rhetoric of the Written Word, published by ABA Press. In the next part of the program, Judge Bacharach will discuss ways to enhance the clarity of our legal writing, focusing on two techniques: (1) creating context before detail and (2) relaxing diction. Judge Bacharach will draw lessons from studies in linguistics and illustrate these techniques with powerful examples of legal writing.
