Pro Bono Week
The American Bar Association has declared the Week of October 24-30, 2021 as the National Celebration of Pro Bono. The National Celebration week is designated as an opportunity to connect pro bono providers and attorneys across the nation with pro bono opportunities, to showcase the difference that pro bono lawyers make in to their clients and our community and to recognize and thank those members of our profession who dedicate their talents to help those who otherwise could not afford counsel. For more information about the National Celebration of Pro Bono, check out the Celebrate Pro Bono website.
What can you do to Celebrate Pro Bono?
First, join the members of our Section by making the Pledge to honor the aspirational pro bono goal set out in Rule 4-6.1 of The Rules Regulating The Florida Bar by committing to perform 20 hours of qualifying pro bono service and reporting your pro bono service.
Making the pledge is simple. You merely complete the form, complete the 20 hours of pro bono work and report your pro bono hours to The Florida Bar when you pay your annual dues. Complete details of the BLS Pro Bono Pledge Program can be found here.

There are innumerable ways to provide pro bono work either through your local legal aid provider or through various on-line platforms. For example, you can find pro bono cases on Pro Bono Matters, answer questions on-line through The Florida Bar’s Florida Free Legal Answers or volunteer for the Section’s Veteran’s Financial Literacy Program. For more information about the Veteran’s Financial Literacy Program or to sign up to participate in its October 30 training program, click here.
Thank the below Section members, each of whom reported performing 150 or more pro bono hours during the year ending June 30, 2021. Thank you for your work to improve the lives of underserved Floridians and for being role models for the members of our Section!
