COVID Precautions and the Retreat
The Business Law Section is taking extra precautions to protect the health and well-being of all those attending this year’s Retreat, including social distancing in meeting rooms, outdoor seating options for dinners, outdoor areas for the hospitality suites, and providing masks to all attendees. We have also confirmed with the Ritz-Carlton Naples that all staff will be wearing masks. We encourage everyone, including those fully vaccinated, to wear their masks indoors per the CDC guidelines. Additionally, it’s not too late to be vaccinated prior to the Retreat. If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact Amanda Fernandez, Retreat Chair or Kacy Donlon, Section Chair. Thank you.

Invitation from the Trial Law Section
This presentation will give you the tools you need to better understand how Receiverships (Florida Statutes Chapters 714 & 607) and Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors (Florida Statute 727) work. These tools include understanding the process from beginning to end, how to identify situations where they may be an appropriate solution for your clients, considerations for evaluating receivers and assignees, and how to make sure your clients get the maximum benefit from both of these options regardless of what side they are on (debtor vs. creditor). Mark Healy and Phil Von Kahle with Michael Moecker & Associates have a combined 32 years of experience working as Assignees and Receiver’s over a broad spectrum of businesses. This experience has led to an understanding of circumstances that have led to many successful receiverships and Assignment for Benefit of Creditors. It is important for every attorney to be able to understand and identify these situations so they can advise their clients appropriately.
