Showcased the Future of Retail
On Friday, August 3rd the team at Evosus hosted the Chamber's Industries Quarterly: Retail event as they closed a multi-day training for their customers at the Hilton. Billions of dollars run through the Evosus POS system and they are located right here in Hazel Dell. Over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, we learned the history of retail transactions and caught a glimpse into the future. We witnessed a demo of Evosus Pro, their cloud based point-of-sale system as they gave away a $799 Poynt terminal and smart watches to the attendees!

The National Women's Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation 's (NWCAVE) board has welcomed Eric Anderson as the Director of the Missing Children's Division. Eric has been a social worker for the past 20 years, 18 of which has been focused in Washington State, serving as the Missing from Care locator of endangered youth. NWCAVE has also invited Carmen McKibben to the position of Treasurer for the organization.

The City of Vancouver is looking for volunteers for their Waterfront Grand Opening event on Saturday, September 29th.

Dr. Steve Webb , superintendent of Vancouver Public Schools , received the 2018 Bob Grossman Leadership in School Communications Award. The award, given by the National School Public Relations Association , was presented July 17th at the annual seminar in Anaheim, California. Webb was honored for his use of strategic communication in collaborative planning efforts, engaging the public in making decisions and, ultimately, improving student achievement.

The Clark County Council is accepting applications from local organizations for grants that encourage historic preservation and programs, including preservation of historic documents.The Historical Promotion Grants program is designed to increase awareness and education to better preserve, exhibit, and/or interpret local history and historic preservation. Applicants must be either a non-profit organization or public entity within the boundaries of Clark County that promotes our local history. More information is available online  or by emailing . Clark County is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the Development and Engineering Advisory Board . The position is for someone associated with commercial or industrial development. The term would start immediately and continue until Aug. 31, 2019.The advisory board reviews policy and county code changes and works on process improvements and fees with the Community Development and Public Works departments.
