The Chamber Notebook:
Sepia Chapel

Renovation of the former St. Luke Catholic Church, located at 1820 Jefferson Street in Two Rivers, started taking shape in January 2017; and after more than a year of rigorous labor, has officially opened its doors as Sepia Chapel Two Rivers. Sepia Chapel is a space to rent for weddings and other special functions and social events. The Jefferson Street location is owner's Barry & Gina Krahn's, second venture in breathing life back into an old Catholic Church. They renovated Holy Martyrs Church on Finger Road in Green Bay back in 2010, and have held hundreds of wedding and other memorable events since, Gina claims, "We started looking for a second venue after turning away business because our calendar was booked. We found the old St. Luke building for sale in Two Rivers, and the rest is history. Starting a business in Two Rivers has been great in more ways than we can count. We truly love it here, and even relocated our family here back in February."

Inside the venue you will find the space to be very versatile, allowing events to be set up in many different ways. In addition to weddings, which are their core business, other events held in the space include: fundraisers, galas, corporate parties, Christmas parties, vow renewals, memorial services, seminars, and more. Other fun and entertaining events are held periodically throughout the year, 80s Edition is coming September 14, and an 'Acoustic Christmas' is planned for the holiday season. Tickets for all events are conveniently for sale directly on their website.

John Brunner
The Fitness Store

Meet John Brunner, owner of The Fitness Store. John loves staying active in Manitowoc County. Read the many ways he does this and why he thinks, loves and plays in Manitowoc County!

Why did you choose our County: I was born and raised in Manitowoc and attended school here. I graduated from Lincoln High School in 1980 and since, have never really thought of leaving Manitowoc. The community is great and has so much to offer. I raised a daughter here and started a business here and I never plan on leaving!

Why did you start a bicycle business in our County: As a kid I always loved riding bikes and working on bikes. At the age of 15, I started working at Wolf Cycling and Fitness in Manitowoc and in 1993, I opened my own shop!

What do you love about our County: I love the bike trails and the fact that you can bike pretty much anywhere. I also love the community and I've loved raising a family here.

What are you looking forward to in our County this summer: I am looking forward to riding my bike and inline skating, which I also love to do. I am also excited to kayak this summer! One of the events I'm looking forward to most is Subfest, July 13-15!
