Ribbon Cutting for
The Salvation Army's
The Light Teen Center

The Salvation Army's, The Light Teen Center celebrated their finished basketball court with a ribbon cutting.

The Light has been open, to youth in 7th-12th grades, since October of 2015. Through monetary donations from The Underwood Foundation and light fixture donations from Orion Energy Systems they have been able to create a full court basketball court in the area outside of The Light. Backus Electric helped with the installation. The court is open daily to the public from 8 am - 10 pm. The court is limited to teens during The Light's open hours Friday to Sunday (4-10 pm, 3-10 pm & 5-9 pm). This has helped enhance their programming and offerings at the center.

Metro Jam Celebrates 40 Years

METRO JAM CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF FREE LIVE MUSIC!

2018 marks the 40th year celebration of Metro Jam, a weekend long festival that offers free live entertainment to the Lakeshore Area. This year's celebration once again covers a full spectrum of musical styles including jazz, blues, americana, classic and original rock. Saturday evening features headliner British Singer John Waite. Waite is best known for his #1 hits "Missing You" and "When I See You Smile" which he performed as lead singer of Bad English. John Waite also racked up a number of Top 10 hits as the lead singer for The Babys.

John Waite will join an impressive list of 275 entertainers that have graced the Metro Jam stages throughout the years. Past acts include The Knack, The Romantics, Joe Bonamassa, Grammy winners and nominees, platinum and gold record recipients and artists who's bios read the who is who of the music industry. Besides national acts, Metro Jam organizers have made a conscious effort to feature the best of local and Wisconsin talent. This year's show is no exception with Milwaukee guitarist extraordinaire, Greg Koch, harmonica aficionado, Steve Cohen and jazz vocalist, Erin Krebs. We are proud to have featured Manitowoc's very own, Jim Krueger in a late 80's performance.

Think.Love.Play.
[Manitowoc County]
United Vision Dairy
The Neuser Family

Meet Jerry, Marilyn, Joe and Michelle Neuser from United Vision Dairy! They are hosting Breakfast on the Farm this year and are excited to share with Manitowoc County why they think, love, play and farm here!

Why do you love our County?:  Manitowoc County has good farming, good heritage and good people. We grew up here and now have five generations here. We try to give back when we can and are looking forward to sharing our farm this Sunday, June 10, when we host Manitowoc County's Breakfast on the Farm. Manitowoc County has always been good to our family and our farm, giving us a great place to raise a family and build a business. People in Manitowoc County are friendly and work together - this weekend is the perfect example of that, as our farm, the Manitowoc County Farm Bureau, and the Manitowoc County Dairy Promotion Committee, along with many volunteers, will pull together to host Breakfast on the Farm. We hope you will join us!

What is a positive experience you have had in Manitowoc County?:  Much like farming, one of our favorite experiences in Manitowoc County goes back several generations. It's a yearly tradition that has given us many incredible memories. That tradition is the Manitowoc County Fair! Marilyn still gets as excited as the kids when fair week rolls around and hates to see it end. The lights, the food, the friends, and the atmosphere make it one of the best! This favorite summer event leads up to one of the other pieces of Manitowoc that we're very proud of - the schools. We have had family members graduate from Lincoln, Two Rivers, Reedsville and Mishicot. We believe that our schools have done a good job preparing the youth. We are proud to continue working with local school programs like the Mishicot FFA to prepare tomorrow's leaders.
Why do you choose Manitowoc County? Our roots are well-seeded in Manitowoc County. In farming, you learn not to fix what isn't broken. We have a good community, so why change? We are proud to be a part of Manitowoc County.
