The Town’s 2023 Economic Development and Culture (EDC) Annual Report is now available. The report evaluates the community’s economic vitality and includes key economic indicators such as the number of businesses and jobs. These statistics are complemented by a review of initiatives and events that were supported by the EDC office. | Total employment grew by 3% in 2023, surpassing the province’s growth rate by 1% and there was a 5% increase in the number of businesses. Development of industrial and commercial properties represented the majority of the Town's construction value last year and the average selling prices of residential properties declined. JOB FAIR EMPLOYER REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

On October 1, the Orangeville and Area Job Fair will offer Dufferin County employers the opportunity to promote current job openings and connect with local job seekers.
Past job fairs have attracted up to 600 people and included up to 30 local employers from a variety of sectors including manufacturing, hospitality, and healthcare. This event gives employers the opportunity to conduct on-the-spot interviews and connect with a broad audience.
The Town of Orangeville is partnering with Georgian College’s Centre for Career and Employment Services to provide additional resources for both employers and job seekers.
To participate, businesses must be located in Dufferin County. Space is limited so register early to reserve your spot at this popular event.

Through the Summer Company program, eligible youth entrepreneurs between the ages of 15 and 29 receive training and funding to help them launch and operate a businesses. These local participants are open for business and would appreciate support from their community. | | |

Apply for funding for local tourism projects
The Central Counties Tourism (CCT) Partnership Program is designed to support businesses and organizations dedicated to growing the visitor economy. Eligible businesses and organizations can apply for a funding amount up to 50% of the project budget, to a maximum of $20,000 per partnership application. This intake period is for projects taking place between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025.?

Make your business a reality with Starter Company Plus
Want to start, grow, or buy a small business? Starter Company Plus provides hands-on business coaching and training, as well as mentoring from local business leaders who can help make your business a reality. The program encompasses 10 bi-weekly sessions to support enterprising people over 18 years of age. Applications for the October Starter Company Plus cohort are now open and will be accepted until August 31, 2024.

New intake announced for Tourism Growth Program
The Tourism Growth Program provides funding to businesses and organizations to develop tourism attractions and experiences that will draw people to our communities. The program is now accepting applications under the second intake and the deadline to apply is September 17, 2024. An information session will be held on August 21.

Celebrate Culture Days in Ontario from September 20 to October 13
Culture Days is an annual, nationwide celebration of arts and culture. It has become the largest event of its kind in Canada attracting millions of attendees. Various free activities and performances are hosted by artists, cultural organizations, and municipalities in communities across the country. Culture Days' events range from workshops and performances to behind-the-scenes tours and activities. The purpose of the programming is to provide barrier-free opportunities for the public to participate in arts and cultural experiences.
