BUSINESS FEATURE
LOCAL CLINIC FILLS GAP FOR TRAUMA THERAPY
| |
Sarah Kaulback is the owner and operator of Lighthouse Counselling and Support Services located at 147 Main Street W Unit 104 in the Town of Shelburne. Her clinic supports children, youth, families, and couples providing a variety of services including mental health counselling and trauma therapy. Specializing in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sarah helps people process and heal from traumatic memories and other distressing life experiences. She also offers Lunch and Learns to businesses to educate workplaces on the signs and symptoms of mental health and trauma.
“The SBEC was instrumental in getting me to where I am today. My experience has given me the confidence to start my business. The SBEC provided a non-judgmental space to discuss the struggles of being a new business owner and to find solutions to overcome obstacles.”
| |
|
Sarah started her business because she saw a need throughout her career as a child protection social worker for trauma therapy. When her business was just a concept, she connected with the Orangeville and Area Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) for guidance. As a Starter Company Plus participant, she received free resources for business planning and access to local experts who provided mentorship and support. Sarah was also the recipient of a grant that helped to fund the start of her business.
March 3 – 9 is social work week in Ontario, with the month of March being the national social work month. If you need support, resources are available at OASW.org.
| |
Did you know that the SBEC has a satellite office in Shelburne? For more information on SBEC services and programs like Starter Company Plus, visit Orangeville.ca/SBEC. | |
