National Small Business Week!
More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs. In Maryland, small businesses employ 1.1 million individuals.

The Central Maryland Chamber proudly supports hundreds of small businesses which are the backbone of our region. Every day, we are working to advance and grow small businesses! You can search and support these businesses by visiting the CHAMBER DATABASE.

From free membership in the State Chamber (Federated Partnership), to business referrals, to business education seminars (See Below), there is a lot we are doing for small businesses. You can learn more about these supports through the links below. Happy Small Business Week!

Employee Development
Wednesday, May 15th | 9:00am | Odenton
**Last Chance to Register**
Your Employee Development System Should Add to Your Bottom Line

  • How much is your employee development system adding to your profits?
  • If a valued employee is at risk of leaving right now, how would you know?
  • How are your employees giving you a competitive advantage?

Typically, employee development and employee evaluations range from no formal process at all to very complex and subjective processes. In most companies, performance management is something that is thrown on managers at the end of the year, as well as a last-minute push to close the yearly books. This is frustrating, inaccurate, and ineffective!
Come listen to Andrew Shaffer of Andrew Shaffer Consulting and learn how you can take an ineffective or non-existent performance management system and transform it into something that can help your company THRIVE!

Small Business Credit Survey
The Small Business Credit Survey (SBCS), a national collaboration of the 12 Federal Reserve Banks, delivers timely information on small business financing needs, decisions, and outcomes to lenders and service providers.

Heading into 2019, small businesses with payroll employees reported stronger revenue and employment growth and continued levels of credit demand, with more firms applying to online lenders for financing.
DoIT Master Contract Window is Open
Maryland does most of its IT procurements and contracts through a vehicle known as a "master contract." A master contract is the equivalent of an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. Goods and services are purchased by issuing competitive task orders for which only master contractors may bid. Participation by firms that have not been named as a master contractor is limited to subcontracting only. Firms interested in becoming a master contractor must complete a solicitation package for evaluation. Visit the Department of Information Technology to learn more.
