Celebrate Women’s History Month

The Broward County Commission on the Status of Women will honor 15 Broward County women who exemplify “Valiant Women of the Vote: Refusing to Be Silenced." The theme for 2021 National Women's History Month captures the spirit of these challenging times. Since most 2020 women's suffrage centennial celebrations were curtailed due to COVID-19, the National Women's History Alliance is extending the annual theme for 2021.

The Broward County honorees will be featured throughout March in an exhibit in the lobby of the Governmental Center, 115 S. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale. It can also be viewed on the Commission on the Status of Women's website.

Residents will receive tips on water conservation, find out about rebates and incentives for upgrading to water-conserving devices, learn how to create “Florida-friendly" drought-tolerant landscapes, and get lots of eco-friendly tips. More…

TSA Now Requires Face Masks at Airports and Onboard Aircraft

Effective February 2, 2021, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires face masks for anyone traveling in a U.S. airport and onboard aircraft. Failure to comply with the new federal mandate, which runs through May 11, 2021, may result in removal from the airport, denial of re-entry, and civil penalties.
Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), is actively promoting this new federal face mask requirement throughout the airport, on its website, and through social media. Airport personnel will ask individuals not wearing a mask to put one on, and if they don't have one, a mask will be provided. If they refuse, per the TSA Security Directive, they will be escorted from the airport.
The new TSA mandate will complement FLL's ongoing FLLy Safer, FLLy Smarter, FLLy Better public confidence campaign launched in June 2020, which reminds everyone to wear face masks in the terminals and Rental Car Center.
For additional testing locations, please visit miramarfl.gov/coronavirus.
