As a follow-up to Wednesday’s Snapshot #14 and as provided for in Governor Ron DeSantis’ Executive Order Number 21-47:
  • Vaccinations for sworn law enforcement and firefighters age 50+ (by appointment only) began on Wednesday, March 3. Florida Department of Health in Broward (DOH-Broward) is working with Broward Sheriff’s Office and municipal law enforcement and fire agencies to schedule appointments at a dedicated vaccination site. Please do not self-dispatch to vaccination sites without an appointment.
  • Vaccinations for K-12 school personnel age 50+ in Broward, begins Tuesday, March 9, also by appointment only. DOH-Broward has been working with School District Superintendent Robert Runcie to schedule appointments for eligible personnel, also at a dedicated site. View Superintendent Runcie’s March 3 Message to Teachers
  • DOH-Broward is in the process of reaching out to charter schools and private schools for vaccination scheduling.
  • Florida Department of Health has released the ”COVID-19 Determination of Extreme Vulnerability” form that physicians are required to complete to provide patients with verification that they are “extremely vulnerable to COVID-19” and are therefore eligible to receive vaccine. Individuals deemed extremely vulnerable by a physician can be vaccinated by a physician, advance practice registered nurses (APRN) or pharmacist. Residents interested in receiving the vaccine through this venue should contact their physician.
TSA Now Requires Face Masks at Airports and Onboard Aircraft

Effective February 2, 2021, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires face masks for anyone traveling in a U.S. airport and onboard aircraft. Failure to comply with the new federal mandate, which runs through May 11, 2021, may result in removal from the airport, denial of re-entry, and civil penalties.
Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), is actively promoting this new federal face mask requirement throughout the airport, on its website, and through social media. Airport personnel will ask individuals not wearing a mask to put one on, and if they don't have one, a mask will be provided. If they refuse, per the TSA Security Directive, they will be escorted from the airport.
The new TSA mandate will complement FLL's ongoing FLLy Safer, FLLy Smarter, FLLy Better public confidence campaign launched in June 2020, which reminds everyone to wear face masks in the terminals and Rental Car Center.
