Tropical Storm Eta Update
  • City operations suspended due to TS Eta will resume on Tuesday, November 10th.

  • The National Weather Service (NWS) has lifted the Tropical Storm Warning for Broward County.
  • NWS will maintain a Flood Warning in Broward County until 9 PM, with the possibility of an extension.
  • Future heavy rainfall is NOT forecasted at this time; however, residents should expect additional rain bands.
  • FPL had 290 customer reported outages and restored 6,838 customers.
  • Broward County Transit fixed routes and Paratransit services resumed at noon Monday, and Express Bus Service will resume Tuesday morning. For more information, visit Several municipalities have suspended Community Shuttle service.
  • Broward County Highway & Bridges Maintenance Division is actively working flooded areas and checking bridges and other county infrastructure. Street sweepers have been deployed.
  • The City’s initial assessment shows widespread flooding, particularly in the Historic Miramar area. Pumps are operational— staff is working closely with the South Broward Drainage District (SBDD) to alleviate the flooding issues as quickly as possible. SBDD facilities are operating at a normal pace.
  • Heavy flooding has been reported in the following areas:
  • All areas East of University Drive, with concentrations in:
  • Median of Island Drive, South of Miramar Parkway
  • Areas of Sunshine Boulevard
  • Country Club Ranches
  • Currently experiencing severe flooding.
  • Staff is working on a targeted public information campaign to assist residents with navigating this area.
  • COVID-19 Testing sites will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, November 10th.
  • Parks will reopen tomorrow, with restricted use where necessary due to flooding and/or leaks.
  • Solid waste was collected today.
  • Bulk pick-up routes scheduled for today will be collected tomorrow, as the facility was closed today.
  • Community Shuttle Bus Service will resume tomorrow.
  • Broward County Public School campuses and administrative offices will be open and will operate at their regular schedule on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.
Technical Assistance Available for CARES Act Small Business / Non-Profit Grant Program
Technical Assistance for small businesses and non-profits seeking to apply for the County's CARES Act Grant Program is being offered from 8AM to 6PM, Monday through Friday. The Application Portal will be open Monday, November 9 through Monday, November 16. The Board of County Commissioners has allocated $35 million from the County's federal CARES Act funds to support this grant program; $25 million for small businesses and $10 million for non-profits. Grants can only be used for costs incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are designed to aid small businesses with 20 employees or less and non-profits with 25 employees or less. The information below details Miramar’s daily increase 45-day moving trend, the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center (VEHYEC) and Miramar Regional Park (MRP) daily numbers of COVID-19 exams, Broward County and Florida State Positivity Rate 14-day trend for all cases and new cases only, international, national, state and tri-county positive and death cases as of 11AM today which includes COVID-19 statistics per Miramar zip codes, antibody testing statistics, school infection statistics and Florida City statistics to provide insight on how Miramar is doing in comparison to other localities.
Positivity rates shown below are based on Broward County and Florida State numbers for testing, which include all positive and negative testing results. There are instances where media outlets publicize only Florida resident positivity rates, which can be misleading as this only highlights a segment of the number of persons tested. There are non-resident positive cases that may include those individuals who spend the winter here, students who may attend school here but their permanent address is elsewhere, are here on a work visa or who simply never remembered to change their ID to their current Florida address. The charts below include the entirety of the population tested, to include the aforementioned individuals.
