City of Marion Ranked Number 1 in Responding to Climate Change

The City of Marion has been responding to climate change for over a decade both within our organisation and through regional collaboration through the Resilient South project.

When compared with over 200 other councils across Australia that have completed a Climate Change Risk and Governance   Assessment, the City of Marion ranked as number 1. We have been leading the way in urban heat mapping, reducing our carbon emissions, engaging our community in conversations about climate change and monitoring climate impacts along our coastline.

In the past two years, the conversation around climate change has shifted dramatically. Climate change has gone from being seen as primarily an environmental problem to now being recognised as a major legal, financial and transitional risk and there are big implications.
