Prepare for Brexit - EU citizens and business

The UK officially leaves Europe on 31 January 2020 and will enter a 'transition period' until the end of the year.
European citizens who would like to stay living and working in the UK beyond 30 June 2021 will need to apply to the government's EU settlement scheme.
There's no charge to apply for settled status and applications are open now.
The current rules on trade, travel, and business for the UK and EU will continue to apply during the transition period. B
usinesses can take some actions now to prepare for 2021,
that do not depend on negotiations.

Guidance on health in the workplace is the focus of the Harrogate Chamber meeting on 10 February.
Guest speakers will share advice on how employers can look after their own and employees well-being, from managing stress and supporting success in business.

Fire Up Your Business - try apprenticeships for size
The benefits of apprenticeships for business are being highlighted in National Apprenticeship Week: - grow your own talent - reduce staff turnover
- enhance the skills your
company needs.
Apprentices are employees, both new to a company or existing staff members. They work and learn within the workplace, with 20% of their time in off the job training. SMEs can receive training costs from the government, or may be eligible for Apprenticeship Levy Transfer funding from North Yorkshire County Council.
