Foot Traffic Analysis - Super Bowl LIV in Miami

With the Super Bowl coming up this Sunday in Tampa, we thought it would be interesting to dig into the foot traffic data for Super Bowl LIV a year ago. This map highlights the home location of the attendees of Super Bowl LIV, held on February 2, 2020 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Fransisco 49ers 31-20.

The top five Pre-Game locations for the attendees were:

Only eight percent (8%) of the attendees lived within ten (10) miles of the stadium, and approximately thirty percent (30%) lived within 250 miles.

Seventy percent (70%), or approximately 97,313 attendees lived further than 250 miles from Hard Rock Stadium.

The Top Five Florida Home Zip Codes for the attendees were
33140 (Miami Beach), 33139 (Miami Beach), 33156 (Pinecrest), 33056 (Miami Gardens), 33154 (Bal Harbour/Surfside).

The Top Five Out of State Home Zip Codes for the attendees were 64113 (Kansas City), 66208 (Prairie Village, KS), 66223 (Overland Park, KS), 94117 (San Fransisco), and 07030 (Hoboken).

In addition to the game, we also evaluated attendance at the Super Bowl activities that took place in Lummus Park in Miami Beach the week leading up to the big game.

This represents total 4-day attendance at the Lummus Park Super Bowl event of 161,550. We compared this to foot traffic counts at the Miami Beach Convention Center for Art Basel in December 2019 (79,746), and in February 2020 at the Lummus Park events for the South Beach Wine and Food Festival (133,431). This analysis was only for the event venues themselves and did not include a review of spin-off and satellite events.
