Sassy Stitches!

After a pretty snow and frigid temperatures, I'm wearing flip flops today!  Crazy weather!  The shop has been busy this past week regardless of the weather. We had lots of great customers stop in! Here are a few of our favorites.

The Saturday "Tool Time" club met a week late due to the snow. It's so much fun to see these blocks go together! I'm also sharing some great projects that use the Curvy Log Cabin tool.

The night group of Beginning Quilters started this past Thursday evening.  I love the excitement of beginners and how they are automatically hooked into loving fabric and being so enthusiastic about starting their first quilt!  Annie does such a great job teaching these beginners. SO excited to watch these ladies progress through this class and see their finished quilts!  Stay tuned!

Remember we are providing opportunities for you to come work on your club projects during the "Sit & Sew"
times this year or if you're not in a club, just come sew!  We are changing this a little bit after some customer feedback.  Regardless of whether you want to do some handwork or sew on your machine, come on either of the two "Sit & Sew" days provided each month and SEW!!! These days have been set aside for you to use our classroom and the supplies while you fellowship with others and work towards completing projects.   BUT . . . YOU MUST RESERVE A SPOT.  We are limiting the number of people to 10 on each of the sewing days so if you are interested you need to call and reserve your spot.  It's totally free!  But we only have room for so many so let us know you're coming and we will let you know if there is still room. You can get into the classroom at 9:45 and sew until 4:00!  WOW!  Staff can answer questions and help you briefly but they will be working on the floor taking care of other business. This is not class time so please be respectful of our staff members. You can order lunch or bring your own. Come sew with us!   Did I mention it's FREE ?!?!?

Deb has let us know that there are only 6 spots remaining for the first annual Great Grid's Event to be held April 28 & 29, 2017.  Whether you are new to Creative Grids, need a
refresher, or just want 2 uninterrupted days to stitch on a great grids project, this is the event                                       for you.
Sassy Stitches will be happy to help you select fabrics and gather the Creative Grids tools you need to get ready for the event.  We will also be having a special sale just for attendees beginning with special hours on Friday night, April 28  and lasting through the end of closing on Saturday. We can't wait to see you all!

Want more info?  Here's a link to Deb's blog post about the event.
or go to www.purrfectquilting.com  and click on "Let's Stitch".

Remember that we carry all of the Creative Grids rulers and tools you will need for any of Deb's upcoming events so call or come by the shop to get all of your supplies! We will be glad to ship them to you if you don't live close by. And as usual, we will have specials just for attendees.

Have a wonderful week and come see us!
NEW CLUB for 2017!
Sassy Strippers!
Our "Sassy Strippers" gathered this week and got busy. There are still spots available so we are extending the sign-up until the next meeting on Tuesday, February 14th. The " Sassy Strippers " will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from January through June and the goal is to complete three quilt tops. Here are two pictures of the first quilt using different fabrics.  It's gorgeous!

Time:  10:00 - 1:00
Class Fee:  $30 plus purchase of Strip Delight book
Show & Tell
Check out this beautiful embroider piece that Pam shared with us!

I decided to play with the Log Cabin Trim Tool during the snow.  This is a CLP Pattern that is so easy.  I made it in one afternoon!
I also played with a little embroidery.  This is a free pattern from Gail Pan.

And here's some new fabric that came in!

Ryan's Case for Smiles
Our charity focus at Sassy Stitches is Ryan's Case for Smiles. This is an organization that provides fun pillowcases for sick children .  ALL of our donations will be used in Asheville, NC at Mission Children's Hospital. I volunteered for this charity for several years and have personally delivered pillow cases to kids at Mission Children's Hospital and assure you it brings great joy to sick children to pick out a fun pillowcase. When you read the story about Cindy and her son, Ryan, you will understand what a great cause this is. It's the perfect charity for anyone who sews! Here is a link to the organization's website.
We will accept pillowcases, fabric donations for making pillow cases and monetary donations. If you choose to make pillowcases, there are tips on the website (see link above) about making them. The volunteers who take the pillowcases wash them before delivery. Something so simple as a fun pillowcase really does bring a smile to a sick child.  THANKS!

Lindy, Anne, and the Best Staff EVER!
