Tee Off For Cancer Research
CARES is partnering with the Professional Caddy Association and GolfStatus to create an innovative opportunity to play a round in our first CARES National Golf Classic.

Create a foursome at your favorite local course and compete with others around the globe in our scramble! Each course will be handicapped in the GolfStatus App, so you can play wherever you like, anytime you like between April 15 and May 15, 2021.

Winners and prizes will be announced on May 17 and team registration packages include sponsorship benefits.
Happy Birthday, Fritzy!
In February on World Cancer Day, Fritzy Finds a Hat celebrated its first birthday! Written by our Founder Scott Hamilton and illustrated by country music star Brad Paisley, Fritzy is a charming children's book that empowers young children to support a loved one through a difficult diagnosis. Proceeds from book sales support CARES critical cancer research, as well as our healthcare partners at Moffitt Cancer Center and their Families First Program
Luck of the Irish
Save the date for another Culinary Experience with Amerigo Italian Restaurant, this time with a St. Patrick's Day twist!

On March 20th, we'll join Chef Steven and Scott Hamilton as they walk us through some family recipes shared from Chef Steven's Irish side, including corned beef soup, bangers (sausage) and mash, and an apple cake, all accompanied by a classic Irish cream cocktail. St. Patrick's Day holds more significance to us than you may realize - it was St. Patrick's Day 1997 when Scott Hamilton received his first cancer diagnosis, and St. Patrick's Day was also the lucky day he first met his wonderful wife, Tracie.
Taking to the Ice in Detroit
Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Detroit celebrated its third annual event in January and its most successful fundraiser ever!

With the support of 236 donors, our 67 participants raised $15,633 to support both CARES cancer research and our healthcare partners at the Karmanos Cancer Institute. This year, we're proud to fund Karmanos' research in ovarian cancer immunotherapy.

Our beautiful outdoor venue at Campus Martius Park allowed our participants to keep a safe distance and celebrate their efforts. For many skaters, this was their first time performing since our 2020 event. We are grateful to our friends at the Downtown Detroit Partnership for providing us a venue, staffing, and guidelines to keep our participants and donors safe.
