New Arrivals & Deals
Jim Barry "Lodge Hill" Dry Riesling 2016, Clare Valley, Australia, $18.99
"A taut and linear white, with a lip-smacking blend of peach, lime and green apple flavors, finishing on a refreshing note." 91pts WS
Kobal "Sivi Pinot" Pinot Grigio 2015, Slovenia, $18.99
"Tasted this gem yesterday along with a handful of other whites that had seen some skin contact. It has the slightest of pink hue from the maceration (36 hours), but more importantly, it has a depth and diversity of fruit that is unexpected for this varietal. In addition to the pear and green apple core, floral, melon and tropical fruit notes emerge as the wine opens. Grilled chicken dishes would do really well with this." DM
Jordan Chardonnay 2014, Russian River Valley, CA, $29.99
"Spicy nutmeg meets a reckoning of lemon zest and grapefruit pith in this light, bright, elegant white that's subtle in oak. Notions of just-ripe pear follow around a rounded, medium-bodied build, providing plenty of juiciness and structure." 91pts WE
We're down to a mixed handful of bottles of the spectacular 2013 Chardonnays from Charles Smith's "Sixto" winery out of Washington. All three cuvees garnered huge press (93-94 points from either Wine Advocate or Wine Spectator) and we've got them for half price (reg. $69.99, Sale $34.99). If you love Chardonnay, grab one of these and discover why several of our customers have recently commented that these are among the greatest white wines they've ever tasted.
Trois Couronnes Cotes du Rhone 2016, France, $12.99
Figuiere Saint Andre 2016, Provence, France, $15.99
"This is grippy for rose; the Syrah and Cabernet give the wine a firmness that is unusual in this price range. It still shows Provencal elegance, but it is certainly no delicate flower." DM
Tank Garage Winery "Stars Like Ours" 2016, CA, $17.99
Muga Rioja 2016, Spain, $17.99
Not yet rated, but 2 previous vintages were 90 and 91 points from Vinous. A blend of Garnacha, Tempranillo and Viura.
Senorio Pecina Rioja 2016, Spain, $19.99
Super limited - only 1 case available!
Left Coast Pinot Noir 2016, Willamette Valley, Oregon, $17.99
Cline Mourvedre 2016, Contra Costa County, CA, $13.99
Puech Haut Prestige 2016, Languedoc, France, $20.99
"Beautiful as always, the 2016 Saint Drezery Prestige Rose offers clean, crisp notes of white peach, strawberries and hints of flowers. It's a terrific, medium-bodied, elegant beauty to buy by the case." 92pts WA
Mathilde Chapoutier Grand Ferrage 2016, Provence, France, $24.99
"Coming all from the vines of the Grand Ferrage domaine in Provence, the 2016 Côtes de Provence Grand Ferrage Rose offers gorgeously pure notes of white peach, hints of strawberries and an undeniable saltiness that makes you salivate. It's a beautiful wine that delivers everything you could want from a dry, Provencal Rosé." 91pts WA
Mia Chiara Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG 2014, Tuscany, Italy, $9.99
"From the southern end of Tuscany, in the hills near Siena, this classic Sangiovese-based blend represents a tremendous value. Its straighforward cherry and spice profile makes it a perfect pairing for pizza or grilled sausages." DM
Bodegas Tarima Monastrell 2014, Alicante, $11.99
"Bright purple. Spice-accented aromas of blackberry, cola and licorice are joined by a smoky overtone. Juicy dark berry, spicecake and floral pastille flavors show very good clarity, with tangy acidity providing back-end lift. The penetrating finish closes with fine-grained tannins and a suave floral pastille nuance. The bang for the buck here is fantastic." 90pts V
Costeres de Priorat "Petite Pissarres" 2015, Priorat, Spain, $23.99
Gaja Ca' Marcanda "Promis" 2014, Tuscany, Italy, Reg. $52.99, Sale $41.99
""Aromas of underbrush, cut grass, Mediterranean scrub, red currant and spice take center stage along with a hint of menthol. The soft approachable palate offers blackberry, black currant, star anise, vanilla and white pepper alongside bright acidity and supple tannins." 90pts WE
Hippolyte Reverdy Sancerre Rouge 2014, Loire Valley, France, $39.99
"If you didn't get to taste this with us last Friday, you really missed out. This is a wonderful expression of old world, cool climate Pinot Noir. It is never heavy on the pallate, yet it has serious staying power with tangy minerality and firm acidity. The mix of dried berries and hints of smoked meats makes it extra intriguing." DM
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon 2002, Alexander Valley, CA, Reg. $127.99, Sale $109.99
"This is a vintage that has so rewarded patience. This is a library release directly from the winery. We tasted this with a few more current vintages and this showed tremendous depth and elegance, but still with power. 2002 as a vintage, for those who don't remember, was rated 95 points by Wine Advocate. But this particular wine didn't garner much attention on release from any publication. It goes to show that sometimes great wines get missed in their 'troubled' youth." DM
Thanks for reading. We hope to see you soon.
