Butler Reflects on 33 Years of Leadership

I often think about the day my life changed in ways I could never imagine. 

I was in a good place. I had the pleasure of working in the football industry, spent numerous years coaching high school football, and found great joy in being a Big Brother through Big Brothers-Big Sisters. My life felt full and meaningful.

Then, in a twist of fate, a couple of friends mentioned that Pop Warner was looking for a new Executive Director. This was a life-changing moment for me. 

I had often heard the saying, "your strength is where your interest and your experience intersect." Pop Warner seemed to be the perfect opportunity that aligned with my passion and expertise. There are many changes in store for this year's Pop Warner Super Bowl and Cheer & Dance Nationals in Orlando. Based on feedback from previous years, we're excited to offer:

• No requirements to purchase theme park tickets​.
• Cost savings potential from restructuring the Pop Warner Party.​
• Lower lead in pricing with choice of booking hotels with or without event transportation.​

Our National Event Model Explained

For more than 60 years Pop Warner has hosted a year-end national championship celebration unlike any in youth sports. In recent years, there has been substantial discussion on the Pop Warner Super Bowl and Cheer & Dance Nationals. We feel it is important that we address some of the big picture questions that are common throughout the country:

• Why is the event not at Disney anymore?
• Does the event have to stay in Orlando?
• Is stay-to-play here for good?
• Can you make the event more affordable?

Community Star Award Nominations Open

The Pop Warner Community Star Award is back. In 2024, the honor will recognize the most compelling stories of how Pop Warner Associations deliver positive impact. Any Pop Warner Association whose work exemplifies positive community impact is eligible for nomination. If you know of an outstanding member that meets this criteria, please consider nominating them for Community Star Award. Nominations are open now through October 31, 2024.

Nominees will be announced in November with a national winner announced in December.
