I have done a lot of writing over the last 2.5 years and this week I have an opportunity to pass off some of the deep thoughts to someone else. I am taking full advantage. I have called upon Quilters Cupboard favourite, Corey Yoder, to do some of the heavy lifting for this email. She has done up a series of videos to promote her brand-new collection, Buttercup and Slate. Rather than struggle to come up with something to talk throughout this email, I'm going to put my feet up and let Corey tell you all about her amazing new collection!

Buttercup and Slate, from Corey Yoder and Moda Fabrics, is an invitation to relish those magical, fleeting moments when the warm sunny hues of late afternoon fade to gray and slowly turn to night. There are plenty of flowers, both large and small, to bring the colours of the sun into your home. The prettiest little starry-night print will remind you to step outside and gaze into the night sky.

Buttercup and Slate is Corey's seventeenth fabric collection for Moda Fabrics. That's an accomplishment to be sure. Corey's excited to tell you all about this collection and she takes the time to point out her favourite pieces and offer suggestions about how you can use them.

Buttercup is a 34-piece collection of beautiful yellow, green and slate fabrics! You can bring the entire collection home by choosing from the following precut bundles:

In addition to Buttercup and Slate, we also have several coordinating Bella Solid prints available as well.

If Tammy had her way, she would have ordered an entire truckload of the 60" Grandmother's Garden Flower Print. This cheater print includes several prints from the Buttercup and Slate collection, and it also includes favourite prints from other collections as well. You can play a version of “I Spy” if you’re so inclined and see how many different collections you can identify. This fabric is 60” running yardage and is a great option for backing or you can keep reading to see what Corey came up with for this print!

Note - This 60" print is NOT included in any of the precut bundles.

Before I show you all the kits we have available for this collection, I will turn it back over to Corey and let her show them off first. While we don't have them all, we think we picked the very best.

Did you have a favourite quilt? Did you have a favourite machine quilting design?

My favourite quilt is Fly Away Blackbird. This is a charm pack-friendly quilt with blocks that are a nice size. While there is a lot of piecing involved, you can be reassured the pieces aren’t too small.

Do you enjoy sewing different blocks? This Joy Filled quilt is a sampler-style quilt. Rather than feeling bored while making a series of repetitive blocks, you will be filled with joy because of the variety!

Granny's Stars is a FREE pattern that Corey designed for the Buttercup and Slate collection and more specifically for the Grandmother's Garden Flower Print. This print makes the quilt seem like you spent more time on the piecing than you really did. We all love those types of projects don't we?

You can tell how excited Corey is about this collection based on the number of videos she has released! Personally, I love how colour coordinated her wardrobe is with the collection.

Jelly Sticks is a super simple, beginner friendly quilt featuring the Buttercup and Slate collection from Corey Yoder and Moda Fabrics. This pattern will quickly become your go-to, quick to piece Jelly Roll pattern.

Kits are available in-store and online for all of the above quilts. They include the pattern and all fabric for the quilt tops, including the binding. Backing is NOT included. For backing suggestions, refer to Corey's trunk show for her thoughts.

Patterns are also available for individual purchase for several of the kits shown above.

Corey knew, while she was working on the Oh, Happy Day! book, that she wanted to host a weekly Sampler Sew Along featuring the blocks from the book. Starting with Generations of Love and over the course of 12 weeks, you will enjoy making 9 different blocks and spend 3 weeks on the finishing. If you keep on track, you can have the sampler quilt done just in time for Christmas!

The best part of this Sew Along is that you get to try out all the different blocks and see which ones you enjoy sewing enough to feature in another quilt.
