The Buyamba Farm
According to Thanks Dongo, big “growth” has been happening at the Buyamba farm this past year. We have been able to harvest enough Matoke (bananas), and tomatoes to provide for both schools. The harvest was delivered once a week throughout the season. We have also been able to supply milk each week to the schools because of the purchase of three more “love gift” cows and the development of good paddocks for the cattle.

The new crops planted this year are oranges and mangoes, along with the avocados, and there are hopes to plant corn in Jinja (the future location of another God Cares School) next year.

Thank you for those who have been supporting the farm, God has blessed your efforts!
For those of you who have had the blessing of visiting God Cares School, you know sports is a big part of school life in Uganda! Not only does the Primary school have teams at the middle school level that compete competitively, but God Cares High School has a girls’ soccer team that competes at a National level ongoing. There is a boys’ soccer team that will also be joining the national level ranks soon also. Other than soccer, both the boys and girls have basketball and volleyball teams both at the Primary and Secondary School. The teams have uniforms and compete during the given sports season.

This year we have had many teams bring donations of soccer equipment and uniforms that we are so grateful for.
You may not know it, but we are currently building a professional sized soccer, volleyball and basketball court. Some of you may wonder why this is a need for a school that works with orphaned and needy children. The answer is simple … sustainability. We need to build courts anyway, so we intentionally are making them according to professional standards so we can rent out the facilities when school is not in session for tournament play and camps. This is key for developing yet another source of income that Buyamba can have on the ground in Uganda to allow us to continue to provide and expand for these students and those to come.
If you would like to participate in growing our sports facilities, contact us today.
