The Buzz recently experienced downtown Millsboro's marvelous Main Street, and what fun! First stop, the new Kaisy's Delights in the old bank building on the corner (built in 1904 and the vault is still there!) Picture pink teapots on white tablecloths, huge arched windows, a tin ceiling, large ebony bar and an amazing menu. The pierogies were yummy and the Vienna Latte was sublime (just a touch of maple syrup - who knew?) They have soups, salads, sandwiches, omelettes and well, the list goes on. The original Lewes location remains open.
On to shopping at Antique Alley (also Main Street) with three stories of everything imaginable. For someone who collects teapots, this is a very dangerous place! (See pictures on the Buzz Facebook page). Across the street is the spectacular House of Modern Living, specializing in mid-century furniture, accessories and home décor.
Don't forget Nectar Cafe, (again, Main Street). Perhaps start with their divine Bloody Mary (virgin or otherwise), then proceed to an Eggs Bennie, or Butter Pecan French Toast, maybe Blueberry Pancakes or any number of brekkie delights. The space is as whimsical as the original Lewes location (which remains open), just a wee bit bigger.
For lunch or dinner check out Raices Latin Kitchen (still Main Street!) for some south of the border fabulousness. The Buzz feels their house margarita is one of the best, but then again, she delights in many of our local libations.
Do the Dew! Dewey was also a recent feature on the Buzz FB page with pix and updates on several restaurants. To recap, the casually elegant Starboard Claw will be open year-round. Chef Paul Hajewski is bringing in calamari and clams, as well as daily specials like tuna poke and Dewey Beach crab fries.
Dewey’s Grotto Pizza will open weekends in March. The new restaurant is smaller than previous Grottos, showcasing a new industrial prototype with large garage doors, exposed ceilings and concrete floors. Company President, Jeff Gosnear says, “It’s the best-looking restaurant we have.”
Tipsea Taco (near Wings to Go in Dewey) is expected to open this spring. Their website says follow their social media for updates, but the Buzz has been unable to find them on IG or FB. Anyone have more deets?
Dewey Eat (near Woody’s) features eggrolls and tacos - bestsellers are brisket tacos and buffalo chicken egg rolls. There’s also quesadillas, salads and house-infused strawberry, pineapple, and jalapeno margaritas.
