On Sunday, October 1, CARE hosted several members of The Remedy Church who visited our church and attended the 10 a.m. service. Afterward they were given a tour of the church and lunch. Our visit concluded with a discussion of how race has impacted each individual’s background and history.

BOOK DISCUSSION

Jan. 6 and Jan. 27, 2024

The History of White People, Nell Irving Painter

A New York Times bestseller: “This terrific new book.. [explores] the ‘notion of whiteness,’ an idea as dangerous as it is seductive.”—Boston Globe

Review Overview: The History of White People - The Atlantic

Racial Equity Buddies’ next book club will take place Saturday morning, January 6, 2024. The book is the NY Times best-seller, The History of White People by Nell Irvin Painter. On January 6 they will discuss the first half of the book and conclude the discussion on January 27. Ron Zimmerman and Ivy Tillman will be our hosts and leaders for these two discussions. If you like to participate in this discussion or facilitate a break-out room, please email racialequitybuddies@fhcpresb.org

The book for the last month’s discussion was An Indigenous Peoples’ History Of The United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz. Those who read it learned so much about the sad history of Native Americans in this country. November is Native American Heritage Month.
