AutoAuth - The Secure Gateway to Diagnostic Scan Tools

AutoAuth is a solution designed to give independent repair shops and technicians secure access to vehicle systems that are locked by manufacturers.

Many modern cars, such as Fiat Chrysler models built from 2018 onward, include features like the Secure Gateway Module (SGW) that restrict access to certain diagnostic and repair functions.

These security measures are meant to protect the vehicle’s systems but can create challenges for repair professionals trying to clear error codes, perform calibrations, or complete other essential tasks.

By registering with AutoAuth, technicians can bypass these restrictions legally and securely. The service allows them to use aftermarket diagnostic tools to unlock the secure areas of a vehicle’s computer, ensuring they can complete repairs effectively. This is especially important as cars become more advanced, with increasingly complex electronic systems.

The registration process is straightforward. Repair shops and technicians sign up, choose a plan, and register their diagnostic tools and users. It simplifies diagnostics and repairs, reduces downtime, and helps keep vehicles safe and compliant with manufacturer standards.  Honda and Nissan to Reportedly Begin Merger

Honda and Nissan, two big names in the car world, are reportedly talking about a possible merger. This comes as both companies face growing competition, especially with the rise of electric vehicles (EVs) and pressure from automakers in China and companies like Tesla.

For repair shops and technicians, this could be an interesting change. If Honda and Nissan team up, they’ll likely share more technology—things like EV systems, batteries, and even diagnostics. This might make repairs and scan tool access a little simpler if both brands start using more standardized systems.

Nothing is final yet, and these talks are still in the early stages. But it’s worth keeping an eye on. A merger like this could make things smoother for shops in the long run, with fewer headaches when it comes to tools and repairs for these vehicles. Of course, it could also mean changes down the road as the two brands align their technology and systems.

For now, it’s just something to watch. If Honda and Nissan do come together, it might make life in the shop a little easier—especially as EVs become a bigger part of the mix.

The Future of the Scan Tool Industry

The global market for automotive diagnostic scan tools is expected to grow significantly, from $41.2 billion in 2024 to $84.02 billion by 2034. This growth is being driven by the increasing complexity of modern vehicles, including electric cars and advanced safety systems, which require more sophisticated tools for maintenance and repair.

Regulations around emissions and vehicle safety are also pushing the need for better diagnostic tools. These tools are becoming more advanced, offering features like predictive maintenance to help identify problems before they occur, reducing downtime and repair costs.

Regions like Asia-Pacific and Europe are leading this growth due to high vehicle production and strict environmental standards. However, challenges such as high costs and the need for specialized training continue to limit accessibility for smaller repair shops.

Despite these hurdles, the market is expected to keep expanding as new technologies make these tools more efficient and easier to use. CAS carries the latest tools with up-to-date software, models, and available features like remote support.

Tech Tip - Understanding General Error Code 500 for GM Tools

If you’ve run into a 500 Internal Server Error while using your General Motors tool, you’re not alone. This error happens when the server—

on GM’s end—is experiencing a technical issue.

While it might appear as if something is wrong with your tool, it’s not. The problem isn’t with your equipment, your internet, or anything you’re doing—it’s on GM’s side.

Unfortunately, there’s no quick fix for this one. Clearing cache, switching browsers, or rebooting the tool won’t help. The best step here is to wait until GM resolves the issue on their end. While it’s frustrating, the error is general in nature, and there’s nothing you or we can do to speed up the process.

In the meantime, we recommend checking back periodically and waiting for GM’s servers to come back online.

Rest assured, your tool is working fine, and the error will clear once the system is up and running again.
